David Duchovy and former co-star Gillian Anderson are convinced that the world is ready for more of The X-Files. The show, which featured David as Fox Mulder and Gillian as Dana Scully, ran from 1993 to 2002 — spanning a total of nine seasons. We must say, that is a good run for any show to be on the air. Despite that, the show’s main stars are pulling for more — and so are we!
David and Gillian aren’t exactly looking for the show to return to the small screen. In fact, they are actually pulling for a third feature film. On Saturday, they got together to mark the 20th anniversary of the show’s series premiere and said that they are both open to the idea of making a third X-Files movie.
During their appearance, they talked about where their characters left off and who is on board with the idea for the third flick. With regard to where there characters left off, David said, “Well they were married the last movie.”
To that, Gillian replied, “Were we actually married?”
David said in response, “I believe so. That was my impression.”
David talked about the third movie, saying, “All the principals are on board. Gillian and I want to do it, so it’s really up to Twentieth Century Fox at this point.”
Gillian added, “If it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that’s what it would be.”
