Beyonce lit up the stage when she performed the national anthem at President Barack Obama’s inauguration — but was her reputation tarnished with a lip-sync’ed performance? We all know that Beyonce is a phenomenal singer, but should she have sang live for the President?
Fans were going nuts over her performance, until it was learned that she wasn’t actually singing live. She sang the “Star Spangled Banner” with perfection on Monday, but as it turned out, her performance was pre-recorded.
After the awesome performance, Piers Morgan took to his Twitter account to say, “And THAT’S why she’s the No1 performer in world music…incredible!”
A spokesperson for the Marine Band that played revealed that it wasn’t a live performance, which stunned fans. Master Sgt. Kristin duBois revealed that the band played live for every song except for Beyonce’s song. She said that the song and music were all pre-recorded. A saddened fan tweeted, “Apparently Beyonce’s inauguration performance was as dope as Lance Armstrong biking through the French Alps.”
Later, a spokesman for the Marines said, “Regarding her vocal performance, no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or prerecorded.”
What did you think of Beyonce’s inauguration performance? Do you think that the people in attendance had any less fun because her performance wasn’t live? Thoughts?
