Oscar and Golden Globe winner George Clooney is gearing up to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the next Golden Globe Awards for his “outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera.”
The President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Theo Kingma, announced that Clooney will be honored at the Golden Globe Awards this upcoming January. He revealed, “The HFPA is honored to bestow the Cecil B. DeMille Award to George Clooney to celebrate his outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera.”
Clooney has already earned two Academy Awards — one for his supporting role in “Syriana” and the other for producing the 2013 movie “Argo” which won best motion picture. In addition to his Oscars, the actor has four Golden Globe awards – one for best actor for his role in “The Descendants”, “Syriana”, “O, Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Argo”.
This news comes on the heels of new reports that Clooney is set to marry his British lawyer fiancee Amal Alamuddin sometime this month. Despite stating that he would marry Alamuddin in Venice, Italy, fans and members of the media have been gathering and waiting outside of the Chelsea Registry Office in London, England where he is rumored to be tying the knot soon.
During an acceptance speech last week in Italy, the Hollywood actor gushed about his lady love. He said, “I would just like to say to my bride-to-be Amal that I love you very much and I can’t wait to be your husband.”
Isn’t he just so sweet?! She must be something extraordinary because as you may know, Clooney has said many times in the past that getting married again wasn’t in the cards for him. Despite that, he surprised us all with the announcement of his engagement to the British human rights lawyer.
We can’t wait to see pictures of their wedding ceremony when they do finally take the plunge!
