The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder is definitely interested in the role of Christian Grey in E.L. James’ book 50 Shades Of Grey. Does he even know what he’s getting himself into?
At 33-years-old, Ian is a tad old for the role, but he could swing it. In case you have yet to read the saucy novel, we’ll fill you in on some details. Christian Grey is a controlling, dominating 27-year-old multi-millionaire who meets his submissive, Anastasia Steele, after she stumbles into his office for an interview. She is taking the place of her best friend Katherine Kavanaugh because she is sick. Christian pegged Ana for a submissive when she set foot into his office — and was bound to make her his.
The book has all kinds of sordid hookups between the twosome, which make for a delightful “mommy porn” read. It is littered with incorrectly spelled words, lack of editing and un-Americanized terminology, but if you’re reading it for the racy scenes, then there are no complaints.
When asked about the role by Ryan Seacrest, Ian said, “I absolutely would be up for that. I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out, I think. Yes, beyond the shadow of a doubt I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!”
Have you read the book? If so, do you think that Ian Somerhalder would be a good fit for the role of Christian Grey? If so, who do you think should play Anastasia Steele?
