Jamelia Gets Emotional Regarding 'Plus Sized' Comment Backlash

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you would have heard the uproar from Twitter users regarding Jamelia’s controversial comment about plus size clothing, anything from size 20 upwards, should be banned in stores. It caused an almighty backlash from angered women all around the world – not only those that shop in those sizes, but everyone – and it appears that Jamelia wasn’t expecting such a response.

The Loose Women panelist uploaded a selfie to show off her curves in a tight fitting red and grey sweater and skinny jeans. She included the word, “Anyway…” as a caption, which appears as though she is getting on with it but on the Loose Women show, live on air, the star got very emotional in front of the audience and her co-hosts and proceeded to hide behind her script. Presenter Colleen said “Each of us have our own opinion” in support of her co-host and added, “I’ve known Jamelia for a very long time and she is the champion of women – every size, color and creed”.

The star sticks up for herself by saying, “What has been the most difficult is people reacting to the headlines. Of course I don’t think we should ban plus sizes from the shops. Some of the things they have printed I did actually say but not in that context. It’s difficult to say your piece when it gets misconstructed in that way.”

Jamelia wasn’t prepared for the backlash from Twitter and appears to be trying to justify her words. Although Colleen is right, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it would appear that Jamelia took it one step too far and angered the majority of the population with her comment and is trying to get back on the people’s side by showing off her own curves.
