American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez is featured on the cover of the new issue of Cosmopolitan For Latinas magazine. Inside this issue, she speaks on the topic of her body and how she was told to change it when she was just getting started in the entertainment industry.
She revealed, “Early on, my family really made me love who I was and what I looked like. My body was nothing out of the ordinary in my neighborhood. When I first started on television, people, and even my own manager at the time, would tell me I had to make all of these changes.”
She added, “But you have to stand up and say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with me or my shape or who I am, you’re the one with the problem!’ And when you can really believe that, all of a sudden other people start believing too.”
She is absolutely right. More women need to stand up for themselves in the entertainment industry. She is definitely a great role model for young women everywhere. No one has the right to make anyone feel like they are less of a person because of their body size or type. Kudos to her for being and remaining a positive influence for women to look up to.
