After Elisabeth Hasselbeck jumped ship from The View for Fox News, fans were left wondering who would be taking her spot. Then, rumors began circulating that the vacant spot would be filled by none other than Jenny McCarthy. Today, she has taken to her official Twitter account to confirm the reports.
She tweeted 16 minutes ago, “Here’s the lowdown about me and The View!” along with a link to the following story on the Sun Times:
When word got out that Joy was leaving “The View,” I knew that the timing of my desire and her departure might be serendipitous for me. Fortunately, the executives at Vh1 also knew these opportunities don’t happen that often, and they allowed me to make the move with their loving support. It’s proof that I was working with some amazing people over there, and I will continue to do more with them — outside of talk — in the future.
Now, I look forward to working with my amazing new partners at ABC. I start co-hosting “The View” on September 9th. I can’t tell you how excited I am for the opportunity to work with Barbara, Whoopi and Sherri. I will be doing everything I can to provoke conversation, make you think, make you laugh and maybe even spill the beans on what goes on backstage (like if I accidentally barge into Bradley Cooper’s dressing room in a towel).
I might be moving from late night to daytime, but I’m just as fun with a mimosa as I am with a martini. I look forward to spiking your morning coffee on “The View” for years to come.
