This Justin Bieber just can’t seem to catch a break, can he? He was just arrested for drag racing, driving under the influence and resisting arrest, but now he has a new charge to add to the list. This new charge, however, wasn’t the result of any of his shenanigans in Miami, Florida. Nope, this is actually from December in Toronto, Canada.
It seems that on December 29th, Justin and a bunch of his friends were taking a limousine to a hotel when one of the occupants hit the driver in the head several times. The driver then exited the vehicle and notified the authorities. It was unclear as to whether or not Justin was involved with the assault, but apparently he is the one taking the rap for it.
On Wednesday evening, Justin turned himself in to a police station in Toronto amid a metric ton of fans waiting. At the time, he was charged with one count of assault and is set to appear in the court there on March 10, 2014.
The police state that Justin was one of six people in his entourage who were picked up from a club in a limo on December 29th. While they were on their way to the hotel, police say one of the occupants struck the limo driver several times.
A statement read, “The driver stopped the limousine, exited the vehicle and called police. The man who struck him left the scene before police arrived.”
Justin’s California attorney, Howard Weitzman, says that his client is innocent and said he expected the case to be a summary offense. He said in a statement, “The Toronto Police Service requested that Justin Bieber appear in Toronto today to face an allegation of assault relating to an incident on December 29, 2013. We anticipate that this matter will be treated as a summary offense, the equivalent of a misdemeanor in the United States.”
A source said that after Justin spent an hour and a half in the station, he left through an exit in the back.
Do you think that Justin Bieber is innocent in striking the limo driver? Is he only taking the blame for this because the police and the driver don’t really have information on who the perpetrator is? Share your thoughts below.
