L.A. Reid has made the announcement that he will not be returning to “The X Factor” for its third season. The head of Epic Records has been a judge and mentor on the show since its first episode in 2011, but has decided that it is time to focus on his record label.
In a statement on Thursday, L.A. said, “I have the utmost respect for Simon Cowell. He is the very best, and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from him. Working with him on X Factor has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m honored to have sat on the panel with such incredible talent.”
We’re surprised that he has decided to leave, considering that he was the only one who survived the bloodbath that claimed the jobs of Steve Jones, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
L.A. went on to say, “Of course, I will miss the show. In my opinion Simon attracts the best talent but I’m looking forward to getting back to my core business and the responsibility of running Epic Records.”
We have yet to hear the fates of Demi Lovato and Britney Spears, but we have heard that Britney’s salary might be slashed because they weren’t getting the ratings that were expected in order to justify paying her millions of dollars.
Are you going to miss L.A. Reid on the judging panel? Who do you think Simon will get to replace him?
