Three strikes and you’re out — at least that’s the way it’s looking for the sap who broke into LL Cool J’s pad while he was home the other night. The transient, a 56-year-old guy named Jonathan A. Kirby, could be facing the rest of his life behind bars.
Jonathan has been charged with first degree burglary with a person present. That doesn’t seem like enough to warrant a lifetime of three hots and a cot, but apparently this wasn’t first time around the block with his criminal activity.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has also charged Jonathan as a third strike offender and if he gets convicted, he could face a max of 38 years to life in the slammer.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, LL Cool J heard some commotion coming from another room in his home. He investigated and found the intruder and then proceeded to break his jaw — among other things. The rapper held Jonathan until the police arrived on the scene. LL was not charged with assault in the matter.
The prosecutors in the case have asked the judge to set the intruder’s bail at $1.1 million. Like he has that kind of money lying around, right?
