Marcia Gay Harden Talks 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' And The Red Room

Marcia Gay Harden stars as Grace Trevelyan Grey in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey and she recently revealed that she got a tour of the red room of pain from the infamous books.

With regard to the red room, she said that she had to beg the movie’s director Sam Taylor-Johnson for a sneak peek. She revealed, “I did beg Sam to show me the room and she did – not when it was occupied, so to speak.

She went on to say, “I did some research that made me realize that it is a romance. It’s a beautiful, red-leather, satin room of pain and pleasure. It’s not tawdry in the way that you might find it on the internet.”

Harden feels that the movie is ultimately about “the possibility that love can conquer all, even if it’s a spicier kind of love than one might be expecting.”

She also talked about one of the saucy scenes where Christian invites Anastasia to dinner and then proceeds to pleasure her underneath the table. Of filming, Harden said, “For me as the mom, to pick up on little things going on and have that inner smile, that was a lot of fun.”

Harden revealed that she thinks the movie would be a good date night for couples – possibly on Valentine’s Day. She added, “Every guy whose wife has read it – and hopefully the other way around, as well – the men who I know was in it, I’ll say, ‘Oh, did you read the book?’ and they’ll say, ‘No, my wife did. And I gotta tell you, didn’t have to work very hard that month!'”
