It’s no secret that Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj aren’t getting along on the set of “American Idol”. They had a bit of a beef recently that was reported as Nicki threatening to shoot Mariah. Word is that Mariah hired extra security for herself after the alleged threat. Nicki responded to the kerfuffle on Twitter that she never needed an army and surely didn’t need to run to Barbara Walters for help.
Even though Mariah was said to have received a whopping eighteen million dollar paycheck for her work as a judge on the show, we’re hearing reports that she could be quitting the show. A source revealed, “Fox will not be able to force either Minaj or Carey to stick with the program against their will.”
Could Mariah just walk away? The source went on to say, “She can claim a legitimate concern about her safety or at least an inability to fully focus on her role as a judge as a result of this threat. Minaj, on the other hand, will likely face a lawsuit if she quits the program for having brought on the outcome.”
Producers of “Idol” said, “This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we’ve ever had. We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can’t imagine a better group to find the next American Idol.”
