“Modern Family” actress Sarah Hyland has revealed in a new interview with “Good Morning America” that she suffered from kidney dysplasia. She talked about her illness in “Seventeen” magazine and revealed that she had to hide the pain that she was experiencing during the filming of the show. Hopefully that is all behind her now as she has received a kidney transplant just last month.
She said, “I would be in a lot of pain a lot of the time. If I didn’t get, like twelve hours of sleep — it felt, like, none at all. I try and make it so that Haley is always sitting down. If you notice, she’s always sitting down a lot…or leaning and texting. When Haley walks up the stairs that’s like my work out for the week.”
She went on to say, “You know, if you’re sick, you still go to work. And in between takes, you sit down, or you lay your head down or something.”
When speaking of receiving a kidney transplant after finding out that her father was a match, she said, “It’s weird because it’s like, ‘I have your kidney in me now.'”
She also told the magazine that her boyfriend has been very helpful with her recovery. She added, “He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself.”
