When one thinks of fashion, they tend to think of one name and that is no other than Oscar de la Renta. Oscar de la Renta has died at the age of 82-years-old. A family member released the news of his death to ABC News. De la Renta has been suffering from cancer after being diagnosed with having it back in 2006. The most recent project that Oscar de la Renta did do was to design actor George Clooney’s bride’s dress for her. George Clooney’s bride is no other than Amal Clooney, who is known for being a well known and widely respected civil rights attorney.

Oscar de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932, but he left home, at just the tender age of 18 to study painting in Madrid, Spain. Though he did love to paint a great deal. He also had another great love, which would become his one defining passion for the rest of his life, and this passion was no other than fashion designing. A natural born talent that would take him to the top and make him world renowned everywhere across the globe for his wonderful creations. Oscar de la Renta studied under an apprenticeship with Cristobal Balenciaga, who became his mentor, and then would go on to get a job at Lanvin in Paris.

Oscar de la Renta made a big name for himself, as well as, did establish himself as a top fashion designer in the 1960s. He dressed a whole lot of famous women with one of the most notable of all them being Jacqueline Kennedy who often wore a lot of his designs for herself. De la Renta also launched his very own private label during the 1960s, as well, in addition.

Some of the very famous women who have worn de la Renta exquisite gowns do include the first ladies Betty Ford, Hilary Clinton, Nancy Reagan, and Laura Bush. Oscar de la Renta was a fashion icon who knew exactly how to create real art where his fashions were concerned. He was definitely an innovator in the fashion industry and will always be remembered as being such.
