Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is a real life hero after pulling a 17-year-old boy from a car crash near his home in Malibu, California. Using a crowbar and a fire extinguisher, Dempsey rushed to the scene of an accident and pulled the boy to safety after his car flipped over.
The boy, Weston Masset, said, “I was scared for my life. I was upside down.”
He lost control his Mustang, which had rolled over three times, trapping him and leaving him almost unconscious. After Dempsey pulled the teen from the wreckage, he notified the paramedics, who then airlifted Masset to the hospital. He was treated for a concussion and an injury to his eye, but is expected to make a full recovery.
While Dempsey was saving Masset, the teen asked, “Are you famous?” to which Dempsey replied, “Yeah, I’m a doctor.”
Well, he’s not a doctor, but he does play one on television. Dempsey currently stars as Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy. After their exchange, Dempsey also called Masset’s mother to let her know about her son’s condition.
His mother, Mary Beth Masset, said, “He had a certain authority in his voice. I asked if he was a paramedic and he said, ‘No, this is Patrick Dempsey.’ I thought, ‘McDreamy?'”
Masset said, “He was there for me. It would have been a lot worse without him.”
