I think you just dated yourself.

  • Danger Batty

    Pierce The Veil :)

  • Ryan.S

This is a mistake. These Bands should not and are not good enough to be covering these Classic Songs.By these Classic Artists.

  • SarahBeth

  • ashlee

i love the maine's cover of pour some sugar on me. its better than def leppard's in my opinion.

    • Earsucker

You're smoking crack…don't insult Def Leppard like that.

      • zach

        maine>def leppard

  • erik

this is gonna be fuckin sickkk. I'm super excited C:

  • Emily

Well, seeing as I love these bands and the original songs, I know that this will be amazing. The Maine’s version of Pour Some Sugar On Me is epic. Hey, it’s not supposed to be exactly like the original. The Maine is my favorite band so I like their version more. Don’t get me wrong, Def Leppard’s is classic, I just love the Maine’s take on it.

I especially look forward to the Almost’s cover of Free Fallin’, Envy On the Coast’s cover of All Along the Watchtower and VersaEmerge’s cover of Paint It Black.

    • Eric

Free Fallin' sounds amazing i just listened to it. better than john mayers version.

  • ricky

People should not be complaining about retouching these classic songs, the punk goes series has been going on for awhile now and they've been pretty good for the most part. Obviously not all of these artists covers are going to be epic but that all lies in the listener to decide. I'm looking forward to this next installment, especially nsn, asd, and the almost

  • Ben

The Maine's version is covered literally almost exactly the same just a little softer and a little keyed up so if its THAT bad then you must fucking hate Def Leppard
People need to stop saying bands are untouchable just because they're classic rock
(I do still like Def Leppards version better just for the record)

    • shane

Yup, I think The Maine's version is close. That's why I don't get Earsucker for singling it out.

  • JBaum

huge classic rock fan. i have a feeling this is going to be so damn awesome.

    • Classic Rocker

Unfortunately only about 5 or 6 songs on this disc are real true classic rock songs. The rest are 1980s metal with a couple of 1980s rock thrown in… don't be fooled.

  • steven

i honestly can not wait for this to come out! i have got every Punk Goes album but i am i huge classic rock fan!!!!

  • Nik

the reason these bands are covering these classic songs by these classic bands is because these are the people they grew up listening to and idolizing. if you dont like these covers than you dont like the original versions of these songs and you dont like music or the concept of music. this is music appreciation at its finest roberta (douche) and if you dont like it youre not a true music fan

    • Earsucker

Au contrare, douche, I love the originals. It's the butchering of the classics that I don't like. I don't mind people appreciating the likes of Def Leppard and other 80's bands, but my childhood weeps at the sound of these bands murdering the songs I grew up with. This site contains opinion, usually mine. Please exit stage left if you are in disagreement and can't comment without coming across as a neanderthal. Kthnxbai

      • chris

do you just got a mouth full of cum from nik. and you deserve it. these bands are great. we arent dissing your bands. so dont diss wht we listen to you fucking asshole.

        • sean

woo there buddy let's not get carried away these cover bands are not great sorry. They aren't horrible but they certainly aren't great. Great is Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Beatles those bands, they are great.

          • David

To be honest "great" is a completely personal opinion. You can't diss on one person's music because they don't conform to YOUR interests. People obviously make money doing all sorts of music from jazz to deathmetal, and you know what? they aren't going to stop becauise you think they are horrible. It's obvious that they are doing just fine. With any band, there will be lovers and haters. Personally i think that The Beatles, The Who, and Pink Floyd are not good enough for me to listen to. They bore me. Especially when the subliminal messages behind their songs are about drugs. Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones are fine, even if they aren't my cup of tea, i still find them good. Now when you talk about Journey or Boston, then you'll get my attention. But these bands are honoring the original bands by doing this. And if you wanna talk smack about a band doing a cover/remake, then go right ahead, but it's doing nothing but making you look immature. Please grow up?

          • Classic Rocker

Covers are awesome. They can really show you what a band can do. But sean is right. He made the most wise statements on this page. And that's coming from a true classic rocker – me. All classic rock has songs about drugs in one way or another. That's what makes it rock. That's what pissed Elvis Presley off. Journey and Boston have songs about using drugs, too. If you don't like rock, then get out of America, or something, because punk takes a lot from rock and they are pretty damn close to each other.

      • Lulz

lol condescent turned to fail. way to mispell contraire. fucking idiot.

    • sean

No actually i can like the original and not like the cover. The original it what the song it supposed to be the way it is supposed to be heard. Not saying all covers are going to be bad. But no one should be covering Bohemian Rhapsody I don't care who the fuck you are. It should not be touched by anyone but queen.

  • N

Its called a tribute, quality isnt the underlying standard that makes these songs good or bad. Its kinda like when you ungrateful dumb fucks have kids, you are making a tribute to life…even tho majority of society believe its a bad idea that you procreate.

  • josh f

    a skylit drive!
    seperatre ways!
    thats all i gotta say…. f&$% YEA

  • ILoveMayday

this is just a tribue to the amazing artists of the past. the people who we all grew up to and idolized. yes, the origional bands are amazing and no one can top them but these bands aren't trying to be exactly like them! they are there to put there own style and feel to the songs. personaly i cant wait to see how it is going to turn out. These bands stand their ground and deserve to be given the chance to show that they aren't what people think. if you try listening to them first you actually find that you like them!
    Go Mayday parade ;D

  • hahahahahhaahah

I wanna hear btf's cover so baaaaaaad.

  • Stephanie

OKAY, so reading all of these comments are just angering me. SO. My opinion is that certain songs just shouldn't be touched. I get it, even when I'm in a band i want to cover classic rock but this just isn't…. It's not right to me. You have to earn respect as an artist to even come close to using a classic song.

  • bubba

all along the watchtower is NOT origianlly recorded by Hendrix…. Bob Dillan man!

    • john

      it was by hendrix first

    • john

my bad your right, im dumb

  • asd4life

    a skylitdrive is the shit!!!

  • &enforced''::

Most of you guys are complete Neanderthals – just like Earsucker's been saying. Just because you like a band doesn't mean you have to like everything they do – like NSN? Sure, Chris is cool but he shouldn't be playing with Bohemian Rhapsody. And quality IS the underlying fact that makes these songs good or bad – you don't make a tribute to a Classic and turn it to shit, it defeats the purpose of making a TRIBUTE.

  • zach

i dont like classic rock, in my opinion most classic sucks, all the new music out there, sceamo, hardcore, nd shit, thats good
so im kinda looking forward to them making songs i dont like, good

    • @conicteam

  • Dave W

This entire album is gonna be the shit.

  • kytti

see, what i think is that these songs are covered by bands that the younger generation listen to. A lot of youngins are so closed minded that they really do think that Boston and Journey and all those other ledgends arent ledgends.and as much as it kills me to say that… its true. the sad part is, i think a few in our own age group and above think that music by queen and kiss is horrible. but who knows, maybe they listen to the maine, or NSN. I think that its just another way to broden a horizon. so kudos to punk goes classic rock. broden those horizons and teach the unknowing about the true beauty of the 80's…. of couse, hopefully, the ones who will listen to these covers will soon download the originals but hey, beggers can't be choosers right?

  • Aki

    12. Envy On The Coast – “All Along The Watchtower” (originally recorded by Jimi Hendrix)
UH NO IT'S BOB DYLAN. They should clarify that they're covering Hendrix's version.

And is this the crap that passes for punk nowadays? The few bands on this list that I've heard of are godawful.

    • Caroline

Well, we all know they're not punk. Thats just the title of the whole "Punk Goes…" franchise.
Its just catchy. No one's saying that these are punk bands, and anyone who does is living under a rock.

"…and this time, they’re butchering the hits that I grew up with." Hey bitch, I like how you said that before the damn thing even came out. Just because you're old doesn't mean you have to act like a cruel, cold-hearted shrew each time a couple of punk bands want to cover your "precious" classic rock songs. How dare they. How dare a few modern day bands cover these masterpieces. Shut up. These songs aren't gold. They're cheesy chart-toppers and they always were. The songs are all good, but don't act like they're goddamn epic. Just because they're old doesn't mean they're good. I dare you to respond.

Suck it hater. This is my site and I'll give my opinion. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else. Kthnxbai. Idiot.

      • POOOOOOOP ;)

Elegant. Cunning. These are the words that come to mind when I read your comment. Completely ignoring my argument and giving me a "It's my site and I do what the hell I want" response. Grow some balls and argue with me. KTHNXBAI. Dick.

        • http://intensedebate.com/people/Earsucker Roberta

Shut your piehole. I grew up with those songs and upon listening to them, it made my skin crawl. Ugh.

          • yankee

how can it be i screw them dame bull shit. I can't wait any longer when it'll out for…………. hey man what do you say!
