It has been officially confirmed that country music singer Randy Travis did, indeed, wed his longtime fiancee, Mary Davis, late last month. The happy couple had been engaged since early 2013.
Rumors that the two had gotten married began to circulate Sunday evening after the pair made an unexpected appearance at the American Country Music Awards in Arlington. Travis’s presence came as a nice surprise for the audience and it earned him a standing ovation from his fellow attendees. This came after fellow musician Lee Brice sang Travis’s classic hit “Forever and Ever, Amen,” and it had been announced that he was sitting amongst them.
The country legend, who is still attempting to recover from a stroke he had almost two years ago, was extremely touched by the moving gesture displayed by his fellow attendees. Travis expressed his sincere gratitude in a statement on his website. Before the show even began, Davis took a moment to talk with people and let them know that it was simply an event the couple would not miss.
The lovely Davis has been right by the musician’s side throughout his entire medical ordeal and was quoted as saying that he inspires her every day in an interview with ABC News affiliate WFAA-TV. A rep for the singer — as well as the clerk’s office in Cooke County, Texas – -has confirmed that Travis and Davis were married on March 21st by Pastor Tommy Nelson. This is a second marriage for Travis, who was married from 1991 to 2010 to actress and producer Elizabeth Hatcher-Travis.
Congratulations to Randy Travis and his new wife Mary Davis on their nuptials. We hope to see pictures from the occasion soon!
