Stevie Wonder has filed for divorce from his wife of eleven years, Kai Millard Morris, citing irreconcilable differences. According to the divorce documents, which were obtained by TMZ, Stevie and Kai had been separated since October of 2009. Of course, on the official documents, Stevie uses his real name, Stevland Morris and signed the papers with two fingerprints, as seen here.
Stevie says in the documents that he wants joint custody for their two sons, Kailand, who is ten years old and Mandla Kadjay Carl Stevland Morris, who is seven. He also states in the documents that he is willing to pay spousal and child support.
This marks Stevie’s second marriage, with his union to Motown singer Syreeta Wright in 1970 as his first. He was married to her for two years and then split. He is a father to seven children from his two marriages in addition to several relationships.
In the divorce filing, dated July 26, 2012, Stevie is represented by Laura Wasser. It sounds as if this is a completely drama-free divorce, even though she could take some of the fortune that he has amassed from his lucrative singing career.
