Confirmed: Allison Iraheta inks Jive Records Deal
by roberta on Jun.10, 2009, under articles
It was just a rumor before, but now we have confirmation that former “American Idol” contestant Allison Iraheta has signed with 19 Recordings and is having her albums licensed to Jive Records.
She said in a statement, “I think I’m still in shock that this is happening – getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!”
Is Danny Gokey next? He said, “There’s nothing to report just yet.”
I thought the point of winning “American Idol” was to get the record deal. Now all of the runners-up are getting signed, as well. Not taking anything away from their talent, but I thought the point was to win and get signed. Not lose the competition and still get a record deal.
Kris Allen signs with Jive Records
by roberta on Jun.08, 2009, under articles
“American Idol” winner, Kris Allen has been signed with Jive Records. Allen presumably (if the rumors are correct) Allison Iraheta on the Jive label. Congrats to Kris!
Simon Fuller’s 19 Recordings has signed Allen, with his work being licensed to Jive.
Fuller says, “Kris won the hearts of millions of Americans with his soulful voice, good looks, and gracious demeans. However it is his passion for music and love of performing that will make sure Kris stands the test of time and makes ‘American Idol’ proud.”
Allen says, “As exciting as the last few months have been, I’m really looking forward to what is next. I’m very grateful to be working with Simon Fuller and his team at 19 Entertainment, along with Barry Weiss and Jive Records on my debut album. Everyone’s been asking me what it’s going to sound like. It will be very similar to what you heard from me on the show — definitely in the pop/rock genre. I can’t wait to get started!”
Weiss, Chairman and CEO of RCA/Jive says, “Kris had a terrific run of memorable performances culminating with an incredible win. He’s a super-talented singer and all-around gifted musician who has that rare common touch which will give him the ability to connect with the broadest possible audience. We’re really excited to welcome him to the Jive family.”
Took ‘em long enough!!
Allison Iraheta Signs With Jive Records
by roberta on Jun.03, 2009, under articles
According to a radio station right here in Cleveland, “American Idol” top four contestant, Allison Iraheta has been signed to Jive Records.
Congratulations to Allison on getting a record deal! Like her many fans, I can’t wait for her debut album to be released. After listening to the studio version of “Cry Baby” by Janis Joplin, I was amazed, like most of you. If you haven’t heard it yet, then head on over to iTunes and have a listen.
Allison was spotted at GBK’s Beach Chic Pool Party to honor the MTV Movie Awards on June 1, 2009, where she was on hand to enjoy the festivities and get some really cool swag.
Allison Iraheta Sent Home On ‘American Idol’
by roberta on May.06, 2009, under articles
If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out last night’s “American Idol“, feel free to take a gander at my very detailed review here, along with the original songs that all of the contestants literally butchered.
I’ll have to preface all of this by saying that I was unimpressed by any of the singers last night. I’m a rock fan to the core, so none of the contestants could hold a candle to Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, or Aerosmith.
Having said that, Adam Lambert didn’t suck all that much with “Whole Lotta Love” and Allison Iraheta didn’t murder her song, “Cry Baby” too badly.
It came down to Danny Gokey and Kris Allen, in my opinion, for butchering Aerosmith and The Beatles, respectively. Then the two of them collectively butchered some Styx. Yay for duets.
Paula Abdul sang her new song, “(I’m Just) Here For The Music” on tonight’s show and she did as well as can be expected for a recovering drug addict. Is it me or it pure coincidence that she released that information after telling us so many times that she’s not addicted to anything, to further her own career? I guess that’s showbiz for you. Lip sync’d? You tell me.
In an ending note, Allison Iraheta didn’t make the cut, so you can expect to see her on the morning talk show circuit as early as Friday.
