According to reports, The X Factor USA recent reject, Brian Bradley AKA Astro, has just gotten himself signed to Jay-Z’s record label, Roc Nation.
Jay-Z, thirteen time grammy award winner, former CEO of Def Jam Recordings and founder of Roc-Nation said, ” I first heard about this exciting new talent and decide to watch some of his performances. Jay-Z goes on to say, “Not only was I impressed with his performances, but to see the confidence he sang with, his lyrics and diction were on point.”
And there’s more. We’re told that Jigga and ‘em are working FEVERISHLY . . . to get Astro onto WILLOW SMITH’S new track.
Well, if the rumors are true, then we’ve got nothing but congratulations to Astro. He’s a phenomenal rapper and we knew that he would get signed. Good for him! I wonder if he’s going to record his audition track, Stop Lookin’ At My Mom! Now that would be rockin’.
Would you buy Astro’s music?
Last night’s episode of The X Factor USA was a shocker! We did not expect to see Simon Cowell’s favorite, Drew Ryniewicz or L.A. Reid’s mainstay, Astro, to be eliminated from the show!
Astro was on the chopping block first, with the lowest votes from America. He showed gratitude in his departure as they played his exit reel. Totally unexpected. We would have expected that after he tried to decline performing when it came down to the final showdown between himself and Stacy Francis. Simon looked pretty upset with his fellow judges, who opted to keep Marcus, instead of his beloved favorite.
At the end, it came down to the final showdown between Drew and Marcus Canty, who was promised a Bentley by his mentor if he won the competition. Drew performed Listen To Your Heart by Roxette for her “save me” song. Marcus performed Neither One Of Us by Gladys Knight.
Now that our top five has been selected, the public gets the chance to vote for the songs that we want them to sing on next week’s show, as part of the Pepsi Challenge. The X Factor USA’s official website has a list of three songs for us to choose from, for each act:
My Love Is Your Love by Whitney Houston
Angel Of The Morning by Shaggy
Fly by Sugar Ray
Chasing Pavements by Adele
Everytime You Go Away by Hall & Oates
Come Together by The Beatles
We Belong Together by Mariah Carey
Saving All My Love For You by Whitney Houston
I’ll Make Love To You by Boyz II Men
Hero by Mariah Carey
I Didn’t Know My Own Strength by Whitney Houston
The Voice Within by Christina Aguilera
Forget You by Cee Lo Green
Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross
Valerie by Amy Winehouse

On last night’s performance episode of The X Factor USA, it was Michael Jackson night. All of the remaining contestants put their own spins on our favorite tunes from the King Of Pop. In attendance, were Michael’s brothers, his children, Paris, Prince and Blanket, along with his mother, Katherine, who is a big fan of the show. [Recap, ]
Here’s who sang what on last night’s show, along with our brief commentary:
Josh Krajcik – Dirty Diana [Overshadowed by overproduction.]
Astro – Black Or White [Good rap, excellent stage presence.]
Drew – Billie Jean [Boring, but great voice. Yawn.]
Rachel Crow – Can You Feel It [Did not feel it.]
Marcus Canty – PYT (Pretty Young Thing) [His vocals were off]
Chris Rene – I’ll Be There [Going home.]
Melanie Amaro – Earth Song [Best performance of the night.]
So, who’s getting eliminated tonight? Our guess is Chris Rene and quite possibly Marcus Canty or Rachel Crow. Even though Josh Krajcik’s performance left a lot to be desired, the man can still sing. One bad night should not exclude him from going through to the top five.
Who are you rooting for tonight? Stay tuned, we’ll be providing our live up-to-minute coverage of the show when the show airs at 8PM EST.
It’s showtime! Over 16 million people voted for last night’s finalists! The top seven are kicking off the show with a tribute to Michael Jackson’s Man In The Mirror. I love it! Josh and Melanie really are stars! Astro is rapping, nice! Best group performance of the show yet.
Going through the competition:
Tinie Tempah is performing his new song, Pass Out.
Between Astro, Marcus Canty and Drew, the act with the lowest amount of votes and will be leaving immediately is Astro! Wow! Now, Drew and Marcus will have to go head-to-head in the final showdown! Steve Jones still cracks me up with his “Off you go, Astro!” Drew is whiny, jeez. Perhaps tonight, she’s going to give us an upbeat performance?
Regarding Astro, he has talent, there is no doubt about that. I just think America fell out of love with him after he demonstrated his attitude. If he would’ve remained grateful, I think he would still be in the competition. I guessthis week.
Drew is up first, performing Listen To Your Heart by Roxette. I was hoping for that swift, upbeat ending, but we didn’t get it. Snooze.
Up next is Marcus, singing Neither One Of Us by Gladys Knight. It has feeling and soul, but will it be enough?
So who has been eliminated from tonight’s show???
L.A. Reid is sending Drew home.
Simon Cowell is sending Marcus home.
Nicole Scherzinger is sending Drew home.
Paula Abdul is sending Drew home.
Drew Ryniewicz has been eliminated! Shocking! What do you think of tonight’s elimination?!!!??
Astro acted like a total brat on last week’s elimination episode of The X Factor USA. So much, in fact, that Simon Cowell almost changed his mind and booted him from the show.
When it came down to the final showdown between himself and Stacy Francis, Astro almost refused to perform — prompting all of us here to wonder why this spoiled brat should be in the competition in the first place.
Now, he is apologizing for his actions on his official Facebook page, telling fans that he is sorry for saying that he didn’t want to perform on the show.
He said, “I seriously apologize to my fans, what I said and my emotions weren’t directed toward you. I’m 15 and I think I know everything, but the truth is, I don’t, and I handled the situation wrong! Win or lose next week, I will make you all proud!”
He went on to say, “I believed I was being mistreated, and in the moment I thought about Ali’s moment. I want to be the new ambassador for Hip-Hop and a leader of a new young movement of positive kids, but to be that I must have integrity and honor first!”
He added, “People are saying I’m cocky and arrogant, well maybe I have watched too many Mohammad Ali films or maybe I grew up with having to fight my way home everyday or battle on street corners of Brooklyn for respect. My guards are always up, and maybe I took the situation too heavy.”
He better watch his attitude then, because we’ve got a double elimination coming up on this week’s show!
On last week’s elimination episode of The X Factor, it got down to Astro and Stacy Francis in the bottom two. Astro acted indignant in the final showdown, even asking his mentor, L.A. Reid, if he should sing at all, to stay in the competition.
This move didn’t sit well with Simon Cowell, who made it clear that he almost changed his mind in choosing to send Stacy home.
Since, we’ve learned that there is going to be a double elimination next week — so will Astro change his tune?
Apparently so, because Simon tweeted this message to let Astro’s fans know that things are much different now. He tweeted, “Met with Astro and his father today and @LA_Reid. Everything is much calmer now and the good news is he’s back on the show next week.”
Was it a wise decision for them to keep Astro in the competition over Stacy? What do you think? Sound off in the comments and let us know! Will Astro be singing his last song on the show when it comes time for America to vote?
It’s Rock Night on The X Factor with the top ten finalists! In case you’ve missed last week’s show, we saw the exit of another of Paula Abdul’s groups, The Stereo Hogzz. Read our recap of the performance and elimination episodes at these links. We’re updating with …check ‘em out!
We’re down to these top ten competitors for the five million dollar recording contract:
Rachel Crow, Lakoda Rayne, Josh Krajcik, LeRoy Bell, Melanie Amaro, Stacy Francis, Astro, Marcus Canty, Chris Renee and Drew Ryniewicz.
For their precap, some of the contestants spoke about tonight’s theme, Rock! Astro said that he’s stepping out of his element and that he’s excited to show people that he can do more than just Hip Hop.
Melanie said she’s going to go in and have her rock face on. Yes! I’m hoping she rocks some Heart! Now that would be amazing.
LeRoy said that he’s hoping to push the envelope with the rock theme. Marcus said he’s on the fence with the rock theme, but if Tina Turner can do it — he can do it!
Rachel said that it’s almost like last week’s song, but it’s more upbeat with a retro vibe. She hopes we’ll enjoy her performance. Josh said that it has to be the right song and could prove to be a game-changer for him.
Chris said that this is a genre that he’s not used to, but he’s going to put his stamp on it and make it his. Drew said that to be rock n’ roll, you have to have that attitude in the way you express yourself.
Stacy said that she first heard the theme and thought she was going to get sent home, but also said that it’s exciting. Lakoda Rayne hopes to kick butt with a rock song and prove to America that they can only take their talent further.

Brian Bradley AKA Astro, really lit up the stage on tonight’s performance episode of The X Factor. He covered Naughty By Nature’s song, Hip Hop Hooray — and it was really good!
In the beginning, he added some rap lyrics that he wrote himself. It was an original spin on a classic rap tune and we loved it. What an electric performance.
