Lady Gaga vs. Barack Obama Facebook Fan Record
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.26, 2010, under articles

Lady Gaga and President Barack Obama aren’t even categorized in the same class of people. He’s the leader of the free world and she’s a queen of pop.
They have nothing in common, except for their quest for Facebook popularity.
As of early Friday, Obama was in the lead, with 9,058,881 fans. Lady Gaga trailed behind with 9,023,966.
Both of them were more than 4 million fans behind the No. 1 individual, Michael Jackson, who had 13,285,811. The singer died a year ago.
Who are you rooting for? Go Gaga!! Show him your teeth!!
Choose Gaga or Barack at each of their respective Facebook pages. Who do you choose??

Matthew Knowles Calls Us Idiots
by Roberta Ferguson on Apr.22, 2009, under articles

Even though Matthew Knowles may be too hardheaded to realize that even his daughter, the mighty Beyonce, might have an off day, he instead calls us idiots.
In response to the recording that made waves on the internet earlier today of Beyonce butchering “If I Were A Boy”, he says this:
“If no one took the time to look at the biggest Inauguration in the history of America then shame on them. If no one took the time to listen to Beyonce sing ‘America the Beautiful’ and ‘At Last’ at the Neighborhood Ball for the first dance of President Obama and the First Lady, and they question Beyonce’s vocal ability, they’ve gotta be an idiot. At 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability. That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot. The vocals were obviously altered.”
Yes, I’ve heard her sing “At Last” and it was amazing. But everyone has an off-day once in a while, don’t they?

Beyonce Knew Etta James’ Rant Was A Joke
by Roberta Ferguson on Apr.21, 2009, under articles

When Beyonce belted out “At Last” at Barack Obama’s inaugural ball, she did a fine job and was all class. Etta James lashed out at the “big eared” President along with Beyonce, saying that “she was singing my song.”
James issued an apology to the President, but never really apologized to Beyonce.
Check out her rant:
Beyonce is taking the high road, saying, “I played Etta James (in Cadillac Records), so I did my research, I read her book. I was not at all surprised. That’s Etta. She’s hilarious.”

5 Funny Songs About The Economic Crisis
by Roberta Ferguson on Mar.23, 2009, under articles

While there really isn’t anything funny about the current economic crisis, all of us poor people can at least enjoy a giggle at these funny (but true) jingles. Music and politics sometimes coincide, and it’s a great way to symbolize how we’re all feeling when the D.C. fat cats pass laws that we do not want. (Ahem, BAILOUT?)
Ladies and Gents, I present, “Recession Music“.
This is my favorite song out of the list. With a note on his Youtube sidebar that explains what The Fed is, Neal has hit the nail on the head. Well played, sir. Think he’s FED up?
Michael Adams – “I Want My Bailout Money”
This song is about the failed fiscal policies of the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury. Where’s our bailout?
Paul Hipp – “Free Money In The USA”
A song that will keep you “dancing through the depression”, Paul Hipp delivers the free money goods in this catchy little tune. I want some free money!
Ron Barba – “You Had A Bad Year”
While it’s a funny parody of “You Had A Bad Day”, we can all agree, the recession is in full effect. It’s effecting everybody. This video features Jim Cramer (of Mad Money) and Barack Obama, supposedly “throwing you a bone”. Sure he is. I’ll hold my breath.
Dan Henkel – “Super-Spending Stimulating Bailout Legislation”
A little folksy, but Dan communicates his point well. The Democrats passed the bailout without the GOP, or our approval. Now I’m not saying that I wanted John McCain in office by any stretch of the imagination, but Congress should have both parties agree on something, before the bill gets passed…
What would you add to the list?

More Grammys Performances – Recap
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.08, 2009, under articles

Jay Mohr and L.L. Cool J took the stage to introduce Sugarland and Adele, performing separately (then together). I imagine that this might have been a last minute replacement for Rihanna and Chris Brown. What do you think? Either way, I couldn’t listen, country music murders my ears. Thanks for your understanding.
After the commercials, Gwyneth Paltrow introduced Radiohead. She sounded like she smoked some weed before introducing them. Were they backed up by a few high school marching bands?

Etta James Says Her Obama Comments Were A Joke
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.06, 2009, under articles

After Etta James dissed Beyonce for “singing her song”, she has just released a statement saying that it was all a joke.
She says, “I didn’t really mean anything. Even as a little child, I’ve always had that comedian kind of attitude… That’s probably what went into it.”
She said that she was put out by Beyonce’s performance because she felt left out of something that “was basically mine, that I had done every time you look around.”
She added, “Nobody was getting mad at me in Seattle. They were all laughing, and it was funny.”
She doesn’t exactly apologize or downplay what she said about Beyonce. But she does say that the comments she made about Barack Obama were a joke. She says, “I always thought he was handsome and he was cool. I still had my joke about him. That might be horrible. The President might not ever like me in life. But he’s got other stuff to worry about besides Etta James.”
So she was basically miffed that Beyonce was asked, instead of her. Etta’s rant is here, in case you missed it.

Etta James Disses Beyonce For Singing “At Last” For Barack Obama
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.04, 2009, under articles

Oh snap!
Etta James got on stage and was getting ready to sing her famous song, “At Last” when she dug her claws into Beyonce. Bey sang the song at Barack Obama’s Inaugural Ball and this did not make Etta happy, not one bit.
Etta says:
“I’m gonna do a song for ya now that…umm….You guys know your president right? (crowd: “Yeah.”) You know the one with the big ears. Yeah, wait a minute, he ain’t my President, he might be yours. I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song, she gonna get her ass whipped. (Applause.) The great Beyonce! Now like I said, she ain’t mine. And you aint mine, I mean I made a mistake, you are mine. But I can’t stand Beyonce! She had no business up there singing. Singing on a big ol’, big ol’ president’s day and going be singing my song that I’ve been singing forever. We’re gonna do that song for you. I gotta do it for you…(inaudible over applause)…That song is called, ‘At Last.’”
Mwuahahaha! (In case you missed it, this was also my first Youtube upload….enjoy!)

Lady Gaga Video – Dear Mr. President
by Roberta Ferguson on Jan.26, 2009, under articles
Lady Gaga decided to use her fame to send an open letter to our newest Commander-In-Chief, Barack Obama.
In the video, she says, “Dear Mr. President, congratulations! I wanna sing love songs, and breaking up with the jerk songs, and songs about having a good time and letting the chips fall where they may. I wanna sing tough songs, and songs that make you wanna just dance. I mean really dance. What I really wish is that I didn’t have to write a protest song. So my true hope for the future is that there is no need. Sincerely, yours truly, Lady Gaga, Manhattan, New York.”
What would you say to the president?
