Nick Jonas solo work inspired by Prince
by Roberta Ferguson on Dec.11, 2009, under articles
Nick Jonas’ mother just recently announced that Nicky was working on a solo project in addition to his duties with his brothers.
Now, Nick has revealed that the inspiration behind the music of Nick Jonas & The Administration is none other than the purple one, Prince.
He said, “I’ve heard one or two stories about how the guys in the band were asked by Prince to come and do some things with him, but they had to decline. Prince played a big role…obviously.”
Nick said that he may even stop in Minneapolis in hopes of hearing from the Purple One himself. He added, “I think it’s going to be really funny when he sees them up on stage. And I’m just waiting to see if Prince is going to show up and be sitting there, like, with a blank face on. Hopefully he likes it.”
As far as inspirations go, Nick also listed that of Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, and Elvis Costello and Johnny Cash.

iTunes Didn’t Expect Kris Allen To Win American Idol?
by Roberta Ferguson on May.21, 2009, under articles
Apparently iTunes had Adam Lambert in mind when writing about the American Idol crown. Well, they got his picture right, and his name…hmmm…maybe not so much.

The text reads:
Somewhere between Kris Allen’s knockout performance of Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” and his rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), it was pretty obvious we work looking at the work of an American Idol. The way he carried himself through these tunes did the songs justice and showed that Allen has serious musical chops (whether at the guitar or the piano) — he also proved that he has that all-important mystery factor that separates the talented singers from the luminaries. Consistently wowing judges and audiences with his understated style and searing renditions of tracks by Bill Withers, Kanye West, and OneRepublic, Lambert ascended through the ranks and took the top spot. He’s the Idol of today and the superstar of tomorrow — congratulations Kris Allen!

American Idol Song Choices
by Roberta Ferguson on May.19, 2009, under articles
Tonight’s American Idol finale sing-off is going to be a rockin’ occasion…or not.

Kris Allen won the coin toss last week, so he chose Adam Lambert to sing first.
Check out their song choices:
Adam Lambert:
Producer’s Choice: A Change is Gonna Come (Patti LaBelle version)
Contestant’s Choice: Mad World (Tears for Fears)
Coronation: No Boundaries (written by Kara DioGuardi)
Kris Allen:
Producer’s Choice: What’s Going On? (Marvin Gaye)
Contestant’s Choice: Ain’t No Sunshine (Bill Withers)
Coronation: No Boundaries (written by Kara DioGuardi)
What do you think of the choices? And what is up with the coronation song being written by Kara DioGuardi? I liked what they did with that last year better. They had an unknown songwriter pen the song and flew him and his partner in for the finale. Boo on American Idol.
