Bon Jovi would’ve played a gig in a toilet

by on Jun.09, 2010, under articles

And it’s that kind of dedication that keeps me as a fan of theirs. Unless they move to a country song list, I’ll always love me some Bon Jovi. They’ve always rocked and that’s why I found this news a bit funny.

Richie Sambora gave a recent interview where he talks about the band’s humble beginnings. He said, “We used to joke around when we were a young band before we actually started headlining that we would even play in toilets. We would play anywhere and do anything.”

Yesterday, the guys showed off their willingness to do just about anything to garner some attention. They became the first band to play on the roof of the O2 Arena. They were suspended high above the ground and had their set beamed onto a screen in Peninsula Square.

Of their impacting performances, Richie said, “We like to do things people normally don’t do. We like to do stuff that has an impact because people remember those things as big events. As part of rocklore, a part of history, a part of rock culture. When you get to a level that you can do those things you kind of respect yourself.”

Keep rockin’ guys.

Activision rapes Kurt Cobain’s image

by on Sep.10, 2009, under articles

Kurt Cobain in Guitar Hero 5Activision has put Kurt Cobain in some rather unsightly poses in “Guitar Hero 5″ and he looks pretty silly. Ever thought Kurt would be jamming out to “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi? How about rapping along to Public Enemy’s “Bring The Noise”? Kurt was also seen getting up close to sing Megadeth’s “Sweating Bullets”. While all are pretty decent songs, should Kurt’s image be used like this?

The video game makers have really done a number on Kurt and he is probably turning over in his grave as I write this.

This would be something that I would normally blame Courtney Love for. She’s sold him out before, so this wouldn’t be the first time. (continue reading…)

Bon Jovi is being sued again

Bon Jovi is being sued again. This time, it’s by a British woman who says that she was seriously injured when a member of the rocker’s entourage ran her over during a gig in the U.K. in 2006.

The band played in southeast England where Sally Allen, a security supervisor at the venue, claims that the incident took place.

In legal papers, she claims she suffered a fractured knee, ligament damage, and severe internal injuries when she was “deliberately” run over by entourage member Kevin McDonnell in a golf cart.

According to the lawsuit, McDonnell told Allen, “I don’t care about your emergency situation. Get out of my way, you f***ing whore. Do you know who I am? You can’t f***ing stop me.” After yelling at her, she claims her ran over her right leg. She is suing for $405,000 in damages.

My question is, if she suffered such extensive damages, then why did she wait so long to sue? I know that she first filed a claim in the U.S. that was rejected, but two years later??!? It just seems like such a long time.

Bon Jovi is being sued for $400 billion for plagiarism!

Rockers Bon Jovi are being sued for an astronomical $400 billion after musician Samuel Bartley Steele claimed the band plagiarized his work. He filed the case on Thursday, which alleges the group copied lyrics from his song, (Man I Really) Love This Team, which was used for the anthem for the Boston Red Sox.

Steele says that Jon Bon Jovi heard his song when he was campaigning for John Kerry in 2004, and thus created Bon Jovi’s song I Love This Town, which was used as a promo for Major League Baseball.

Without hearing either track, I really can’t base a decision on whether or not Bon Jovi ripped this guy off. After searching Youtube for any song by Steele, I came up empty. He’s seeking $100,000 per CD sold, of which four million CDs were sold to date.

What do you think? When I saw the figure, I thought the guy wanted Bon Jovi to foot the bill for the bailout.

3 Doors Down cover Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead or Alive

by on Jul.15, 2008, under articles

I just listened to this and now I think that 3 Doors Down should stick to that Kryptonite crap that they’re good at.

Dude is not not NOT Bon Jovi and he sounds like he’s trying to country-fy the song…..it left a bad taste in my mouth.

What do you think? Sucktastic? Or did you love it?

Bon Jovi cites family importance over selling out concerts

by on Oct.30, 2007, under articles

Finally a rocker whose got his head on right! Go Bon Jovi!

JON BON JOVI has been rocking for so long, he no longer cares if his group sells out stadiums and arenas when they tour. The family man insists the welfare of his kids and issues at home are far more important to him than rock success. He tells America’s Best Life magazine, “I don’t give a f**k that I just sold out 10 nights at the arena. It’s just what I do. It’s just a job – and I get paid well for it. “I get to wear a T-shirt and dirty jeans, but I don’t really give a f**k about the rest of it, because it’s a shallow pool, man.”

Bon Jovi turns down a $1 mil book deal

by on Jun.15, 2007, under articles

The band members of Bon Jovi are refusing to sell out to the tune of one milllllllllllionnnn dolllllllarrrssss.

I am sure that they have lived the lives of the true rock stars that they are, but they are keeping mum on any tell-alls:

Bon Jovi says, “One of those big publishers gave us a million dollars recently to write a book about our experiences but we just gave the money right back because it’s no one’s business.

“They wanted the cliched story about being a rock star and I’m not going to tell them. It doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, it just means isn’t there anything more important to talk about.”

They are probably just spotlighting this to bring new publicity to their new album. Good effort, guys.

Phil Stacey going out in a blaze of glory?

by on May.02, 2007, under articles

I actually liked Phil Stacey’s version of Blaze of glory. Obviously, Simon disagrees, but I thought it was quite good.
Maybe we all should have listened to Votefortheworst and called in for Phil Stacey.

We’ll see.

Have a nice day with Melinda Doolittle

by on May.02, 2007, under articles

Melinda Doolittle “took it to church” with Bon Jovi’s “Have a nice day”. She gives the song some attitude and normally, we know that Melinda isn’t a rocker chick, but she gave this performance her best.

I was left thinking, however, that Lakisha would’ve sang it better. Just my two cents.

Jordin Sparks screams “Livin’ on a prayer”

by on May.02, 2007, under articles

I love Bon Jovi week. Jordin Sparks screeched through “Livin’ on a prayer”. I liked the rock look and the guest appearance with Gina Glocksen, but Simon was right. This wasn’t Jordin’s genre or her type of sound. Everyone has their time to shine, last week it was Jordin’s, this week goes too Lakisha.

When Chris Richardson started singing “Wanted dead or alive” by Bon Jovi and came out with the lyrics, “it’s all the same”, I thought ‘wow’ this guy sounds like Bon Jovi. Then, he killed it.

Blake Lewis beatboxes to Bon Jovi’s “Bad Name”

by on May.02, 2007, under articles

Good lord, this kid will beatbox to any song really. To give Bon Jovi’s “You give love a bad name” a new skin had to be a difficult task, but I’m an 80′s child, so I’m not in such agreement with the judges on this one.

Watch here.
