Busta Rhymes has been allowed back into the U.K., after he spent hours detained at the airport earlier today. They detained him over “unresolved convictions” here in the U.S. Officials at the airport tried to re-route the rapper to Amsterdam, until Busta’s lawyer secured an injunction preventing that.

U.K. authorities have now granted him permission to enter the country, where he’s due to perform a charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall tomorrow.

The detention was said to have been related to previous convictions for drunk driving and assault.

Busta Rhymes gets probation for assault

by on Jan.24, 2008, under articles

Busta Rhymes

Rapper Busta Rhymes AKA Trevor Smith, pleaded guilty yesterday to assault, two driving charges, and weapons possession. He avoided a trial and the year long prison sentence that the prosecutors were recommending.

The judge in the case disagreed with prosecutors and instead sentenced him to three years probation and ten days of community service for beating a fan who spit on his car.

Rhymes was also fined $1,250 for driving with a suspended license in 2006 and driving while intoxicated in 2007.

How’s that for celebrity justice?

Woohah, Busta’s got the Flipmode Squad in check

by on Nov.22, 2007, under articles

Or maybe it’s the other way around. The Flip Mode Squad can no longer stand Busta’s unruly behavior, so they have parted ways with the rapper. He is under fire now for his assault and drunk driving charges.

To be honest, I don’t know how long the former Flip Mode Squad, now FMS (which stands for Famous Millionaire Squad) will last without Busta. I have my doubts.

I’ll always think of the song, “Woohah, I got you all in check” when I think of him, though.

Busta busted for DUI

by on May.03, 2007, under articles

Trevor Smith, better known to us as Busta Rhymes, has been arrested for drunk driving. Firstly, he was stopped for having too much tint in his windows, until the police sniffed and found too much alcohol in his system. When you’re out there, and you’re doing something wrong, you may not want to bring attention to yourself…. Otherwise, hire a driver if you can afford it.

Per TMZ:

According to the NYPD, the rapper, driving a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali, was pulled over on the far West side of Midtown Manhattan at 12:48 AM, because the car’s windows were too dark. When cops encountered Rhymes (real name: Trevor Smith), they noticed a “strong odor of alcohol” on his breath and issued a field sobriety test. He was then taken into custody on a charge of driving while impaired and booked at the Midtown North Police Precinct.
