Chaz Bono has revealed that he relied on his mother, Cher’s tremendous support during his dancing days on Dancing With The Stars.

He struggled with an injury during the competition, but his mother helped him pull through. In a new interview, he said, “My mom was really into it. When you grow up with Cher as your mother – she’s the performer in the family. My relatives laughed and asked, ‘Do you dance.’ I had tremendous support from her. She got me through it, especially when I hurt my knee. I appreciate everything she does and gives me.”

Chaz went on to reveal that he grew so close to the other competitors on the show that he joked that they would all leave their current partners. He added, “I have become friends with David Arquette and J.R. Martinez and Nancy Grace. We are going to leave our spouses!”

We’re glad that he got through the show with the help of his mother, but we were bummed that he stayed on for so long. The man can’t dance! Sad, but true.

Cher appeared on Monday night’s performance episode of Dancing With The Stars to support her son, Chaz Bono.

She clapped, cried and gave him a standing ovation for his Paso Doble, even though it didn’t merit as much. Cher was a proud mother and you could tell that she was happy to be there.

According to the National Enquirer, there was some commotion behind the scenes that the cameras (and us) weren’t privvy to. On their cover, they’re claiming that Cher “lashed out at DWTS” and there were “vicious insults & nasty slurs”.

Could it be that they’re trying to make the world think that Cher isn’t accepting of her son and his gender switch from woman to man?

Also featured in this issue is Brad Pitt begging Angelina Jolie to eat and their claims that she’s addicted to diet pills. Also in this issue is Amanda Knox’s drug deal, Michael Douglas being marked for death and Paul McCartney’s new bride being linked to the mob.

Chaz Bono and his professional dance partner Lacey Schwimmer danced the Paso Doble to the theme from Rocky.

The dance was largely uninspired and completely terrible. But, the audience ate up the fact that his mother, Cher, was there to cheer him on!

Of the dance, Bruno commented that “no matter how many knocks he takes, he keeps coming back and getting stronger”. Carrie Ann said that he makes her root for him and he has true courage. Len said that he’s getting stronger, but added that it wasn’t a knockout performance. But, he added, that this was his best performance, to date.

Each of the judges gave him a score of seven points, which was obviously too many for the performance that he gave. We would venture a guess of five points each, being more adequate.

Either way, mama Cher was proud of her boy. She cried, cheered and gave Chaz a standing ovation. And we knew ahead of time that Cher was going to turn out for this performance. We had learned that last week, before the voting commenced.

Now that Chaz Bono has performed on Dancing With The Stars this season, he’s said to be getting courted for a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live!

Producers of the show are trying to get Chaz to host SNL, and not only that, but he’s trying to get his mother, Cher, to host it with him.

A source said, “Chaz has been flooded with offers since becoming a DWTS contestant – he’s becoming a Hollywood sensation. Guest-starring on SNL before a live crowd would be a milestone for Chaz. And he wants his mother to come along to give him extra confidence. A show with the two would be a ratings bonanza – and the NBC brass is thrilled that a deal is in the works.”

The source added, “The jackpot would be to have Cher do a few skits with Chaz, but producers are hoping they can at least get her as a musical guest. Everyone connected with the secret plan is keeping their fingers crossed it becomes a reality.”
