by on Apr.25, 2010, under articles

Conan O’Brien tweeted last night that he was doing his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On TV” show from his former spot at the Universal lot. He said, “I’m doing my live show tonight from the Universal lot where I taped The Tonight Show. So if a shot rings out, tell my wife I loved her.”

What he didn’t expect was that he got hijacked on stage, by none other than Jim Carrey in a Superman suit! Check out their version of Five For Fighting’s Superman, after the jump! (continue reading…)

Photo: Conan O’Brien’s unemployment beard & dolphin kissing

by on Feb.19, 2010, under articles

Conan O’Brien showed off an unemployement/I’m rich and don’t need to work beard while kissing dolphins in Hawaii with his family.

Reason # 1,238,914 Conan wins: Jay Leno couldn’t kiss a dolphin! his chin would get in the way.
Reason # 1,238,915 Conan wins: That dolphin is more attractive then anything Leno’s kissing

Hah.

Conan O’Brien being tipped to be the next American Idol judge?

by on Feb.11, 2010, under articles

Now here’s a rumor if I’ve ever heard one. Apparently, someone out there thinks that Conan O’Brien should be Simon Cowell’s replacement on American Idol. That’s rich.

Not that he wouldn’t be a funny replacement on the talent competition, because he would be. That show doesn’t need comic relief, it needs music industry knowledge and honesty. Sure, he would be a great guest judge. It would probably boost ratings, but as far as the long haul, I’m leaning towards no.

What do you think? Would you like to see Conan on Idol? I would love to see him get another late night talk show, and Fox would see a ratings jump if he guest hosted, but I don’t think he’s got what they’re looking for. Not that that’s a bad thing, because I loved Conan. He worked hard for “The Tonight Show” and got rammed in the rear by NBC.

David Letterman wanted Conan O’Brien for Super Bowl ad

by on Feb.08, 2010, under articles

If you watched the Super Bowl (or just the commercials), then you may have run across the new ad for late night television featuring Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey and David Letterman.

Dave thought it was a good idea and wrote it out. He called CBS for the green light and they loved it. The only missing piece? Conan O’Brien.

From Pop Eater:

‘Late Show’ executive producer Rob Burnett approached Conan’s camp about appearing in the commercial, but his request wasn’t met with a response. “It wasn’t as if they even said no,” Burnett said. “I just think they weren’t in a position to consider it all.”

It would have been ten times better if Coco were there. Don’t you agree?

Video: Conan O’Brien’s face made out of Cheetos

by on Feb.03, 2010, under articles

Now here’s a video that even Britney Spears would be proud of (or eat up). Apparently, an artist with the Eclectic Asylum Art Gallery in Colorado Springs, Colorado did a rendering of former “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Briens face, made entirely out of Cheetos.

The artist reportedly used over 2,000 Cheetos and four different varieties of the junk food. Check out the video after the jump! (continue reading…)

Conan O’Brien gives severance pay to for ousted staffers

by on Feb.02, 2010, under articles

Conan O’Brien is a stand-up guy, especially when it comes to his ousted “Tonight Show” crew. Apparently, NBC did not cut them in on the receiving end of cash when it came to the negotiations.

Conan has taken the helm at shelling out the dough to the parties who got screwed in the deal. A source close to production said that “The Tonight Show” stagehands were not covered in the severance plan.

The talk show host has agreed to pay his nearly 50 person crew at least six weeks of severance.

Way to go CoCo! Staying classy even after the fact.

Conan O’Brien back in bed with NBC

by on Jan.27, 2010, under articles

Former “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien is reportedly back in bed with NBC, the network who left him in a lurch over the late night talk show for Jay Leno.

According to TMZ, the network has picked up an hour-long pilot produced by Conan’s company, Conaco. The show is called “Justice” and is centered around a Supreme Court justice who resigns from the Court to open his own private practice.

Interesting how these things play out. I still wonder if he’s going to jump ship to Fox as soon as September rolls around and he’s a completely free agent.

Video: Jay Leno keeps it civil after Conan O’Brien bails

by on Jan.26, 2010, under articles

Jay Leno took it easy on Conan O’Brien last night on his first appearance post-”Tonight”-gate. After Conan took off, I figured Jay would take a few easy potshots at him, but that hasn’t been the case. Not yet, anyways.

Instead of taking a verbal hit at the raven haired talk show host, he aimed at politics, and of course, NBC. Why would Leno want to take a hit at someone who couldn’t fire back, though? After signing a deal with NBC, Conan isn’t allowed to disparage the network until at least September.

Check out the video, after the jump. (continue reading…)
