Danny Gokey glasses are a scam

by on Jun.16, 2009, under articles

danny_goke_frames_direct_fraudDanny Gokey has just informed all of us that he is in no way affiliated with anyone who’s claiming to sell glasses on his behalf, and even goes as far as calling them all a scam.

Apparently FramesDirect was trying to pass off a Gokey endorsement for their line of glasses that look like his, but Gokey tweeted about it yesterday to let us know not to buy into it.

He said:

Many companies r claiming 2 partner w/ Sophia’s Heart (clothes, eyewear, ect). They r all SCAMS. We have not seen 1 penny nor been contacted

Also on the record deal front, Gokey lets us know not to fret, it’s coming:

A lot of u are asking about a record deal. I ask you to please b patient, there R things in the works as we speak! I’ll keep u informed

And there you have it!

Confirmed: Allison Iraheta inks Jive Records Deal

by on Jun.10, 2009, under articles

Allison IrahetaIt was just a rumor before, but now we have confirmation that former “American Idol” contestant Allison Iraheta has signed with 19 Recordings and is having her albums licensed to Jive Records.

She said in a statement, “I think I’m still in shock that this is happening – getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!”

Is Danny Gokey next? He said, “There’s nothing to report just yet.”

I thought the point of winning “American Idol” was to get the record deal. Now all of the runners-up are getting signed, as well. Not taking anything away from their talent, but I thought the point was to win and get signed. Not lose the competition and still get a record deal.

Were People Afraid To Have A Gay American Idol Winner?

by on May.20, 2009, under articles

With all of the fuss surrounding the season finale of “American Idol”, it seemed that Adam Lambert was a total shoe-in for the crown.

He had/has fans left and right, people were cheering for him in droves. They just KNEW he was going to win it all tonight. He even had Katy Perry showing her bias for him on the show, by wearing her faux Elvis outfit with his name emblazoned on the back.

After it’s all said and done, Kris Allen is the winner of the show. But why? Was it that he had the better talent? Was it that he did THE BEST job of the entire series?

Even Simon Cowell commented recently that the Idol finale should consist of Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert primarily because Kris couldn’t compete with the likes of Adam.

Anyone I’ve talked to said that Adam was in a class all of his own. He was the winner, in everybody’s minds before the finale even aired. My question is, was Adam not chosen because he’s gay? I only ask that because I really can’t think of another reason why he would’ve been passed over for the crown. It surely wasn’t because he’s not good enough. To say that people are in shock over the results of the show would be an understatement.

What do you think?

On a side note, I think both of the guys did an excellent job on the show. This is basically just for discussion as to your opinions on what happened on tonight’s show.

Allison Iraheta Sent Home On ‘American Idol’

by on May.06, 2009, under articles

If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out last night’s “American Idol“, feel free to take a gander at my very detailed review here, along with the original songs that all of the contestants literally butchered.

I’ll have to preface all of this by saying that I was unimpressed by any of the singers last night. I’m a rock fan to the core, so none of the contestants could hold a candle to Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, or Aerosmith.

Having said that, Adam Lambert didn’t suck all that much with “Whole Lotta Love” and Allison Iraheta didn’t murder her song, “Cry Baby” too badly.

It came down to Danny Gokey and Kris Allen, in my opinion, for butchering Aerosmith and The Beatles, respectively. Then the two of them collectively butchered some Styx. Yay for duets.

Paula Abdul sang her new song, “(I’m Just) Here For The Music” on tonight’s show and she did as well as can be expected for a recovering drug addict. Is it me or it pure coincidence that she released that information after telling us so many times that she’s not addicted to anything, to further her own career? I guess that’s showbiz for you. Lip sync’d? You tell me.

In an ending note, Allison Iraheta didn’t make the cut, so you can expect to see her on the morning talk show circuit as early as Friday.

Danny Gokey Performs ‘PYT’ On American Idol – Video

by on Mar.11, 2009, under articles

Danny Gokey performed Michael Jackson’s 1993 hit, “PYT (Pretty Young Thing)” and did a decent job of it. Obviously, I’m not as impressed as Paula Abdul was, but it’s whatever’s in her Coke cup that she needs to share.

He was definitely doing the white boy dancing. But overall, his singing wasn’t bad. I would take his version over the original, but it was still good.

And is it me, or did someone tell Randy Jackson that he says the word “dawg” too much? Is he trying out a new word here? “Dude.”
