The best concert ever!

by on Mar.23, 2008, under articles

In case you didn’t know it, I’m an insanely huge Def Leppard fan. If you know me personally, then this isn’t exactly a surprise.

So when the music channel came together to put our posts together about our favorite concerts, I figured this one was going to be really easy.

The Def Leppard Euphoria concert was the best concert I’ve ever been to. That may be because it was also my first, too, but seriously, it rocked. Opening for them was some unknown band who really sucked and could barely be heard.

I went there with my ex-husband, who wasn’t a fan by any stretch of the imagination. But they played all of their hits and encored with Love Bites. We had lawn seats, which sucked, but the concert was electric just the same.

I stood up like a tard with a lighter and held it high and proud…..just the same as I would today. They still rock.

The only concert that would even come close to being near this ultimate concert status, was the Kiss/Aerosmith concert. Both were sweet concerts, but Euphoria takes the prize.

Can’t wait to see them again!

There. Listen.

I could do without the crappy country intro, but besides that, it’s cool.

I dunno how impressed I am with the song, considering it has Tim Mcgraw singing the first part….Give it a listen.

Let me know what you think.

I love Def Leppard and I’m even willing to forgive this incident, but I really wanna hear the rest of the Songs From The Sparkle Lounge before I pass judgment.

Def Leppard’s album, Songs From The Sparkle Lounge gets a release date of April 29th

by on Mar.02, 2008, under articles

The band will also debut their new single, Nine Lives Apr. 29 on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars and on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! the next day. Nine Lives was co-written with country superstar Tim McGraw.

The 11 tracks on the album include the titles:
Go
Nine Lives
C’mon C’mon
Love, Tomorrow
Cruise Control
Hallucinate
Only The Good Die Young
Bad Actress
Come Undone
Gotta Let It Go.

Woot, I can hardly wait. However, they can keep Nine Lives if it’s featuring Tim McGraw singing. We’ll have none of that.

Joe Elliott

Def Leppard’s new single, “Nine Lives”, from Songs From The Sparkle Lounge has been leaked on the internet. Apparently, a New Zealand radio station had been playing the track on its airwaves.

Someone got ahold of it and shazaam, a 32 second sample is below for your listening pleasure.

Now, don’t say I never gave you anything.

Update: The link has been removed, so now you can say I never gave you anything. So much for promoting a band.

RIP: Steve Clark of Def Leppard

by on Jan.08, 2008, under articles

Rest in Peace to one of my favorite guitarists that ever lived, Steve “Steamin’” Clark of Def Leppard.

In 1991, Clark was found dead on his couch by Janie Dean — his girlfriend at the time. The autopsy revealed he died from a mixture of anti-depressants, painkillers (used for a rib injury), and alcohol. There was no evidence of suicidal intent.

At the time of his death, he was on a six-month leave of absence from Def Leppard. The band had allegedly grown despondent over their repeated, failed efforts to help Clark and decided time off was the only solution. Shortly after Clark’s death rumours began circulating that he had in fact been permanently fired from the band giving rise to theories that this may have been the cause of his potential suicide. These rumours still persist partly aided by the band’s subsequent ambiguous comments on the subject.

Steve’s remains are buried at Wisewood Cemetery in Hillsbrough, Sheffield, near his family’s house.

Tesla, who opened for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour, recorded a tribute to Steve Clark on their Psychotic Supper album, called “Song & Emotion (To Our Friend, Steve ‘Steamin’ Clark)”.

Check out Song and Emotion below:

The first time I saw Steve Clark was in the video for Photograph, from their Pyromania album. I saw him and Phil Collen wailing on their guitars and thought how cool it is that they can make such magic.

Remember Steve Clark today.

And the world is coming to an end | Def Leppard close to being on CMT

by on Dec.03, 2007, under articles

Okay, check out the picture above and riddle me this: Does this look like COUNTRY to you?!???!?

I almost died when I read this nonsense. To be fair, let me just say this, I’ve never NEVER EVER been a fan of country music EVER. So I read that the makers of that CMT crap are trying to pair up Def Leppard with someone to feature on their CRAP TV SHOW, Crossroads, I blew a gasket.

Wha?

Check it out, via Def Leppard SOL:

Country Music Television, a cable channel seen in more than 87 million homes, is reportedly close to pairing Def Leppard with a country artist for a future appearance on ‘Crossroads’, according to the New York Times.

“CMT now cannot accommodate all the artists who wish to be a part of the show. It is currently looking for the right country artist to pair with Lenny Kravitz, and is close to landing partners for Maroon 5 and Def Leppard, Mr. Flanagan said.”

As much as I love Def Leppard, I will not not NOT watch this garbage. Rubbish, I tell you. RUBBISH!

Album Review: Def Leppard – Hysteria

by on Jul.26, 2007, under articles

I know that I’m digging all of the way back to 1987 here, but I just couldn’t help myself. This is an album that I truly love and can listen to straight through without skipping songs. That’s a hard feat for me, because you know there is always that one crap song on most albums that you just have to get past to get to the better stuff.

The album starts off with the song, “Women”, which is a slow kind of starting song, then it gets cool. I love the video for this song, it’s great. Next song up is “Rocket” and the tempo of this number makes it an upbeat song that I can listen to when I want to get things done. Up next is “Animal”, which is one of the songs that helped make Hysteria a multi-platinum album. “Love Bites” is the song that you can listen to anywhere and know the lyrics immediately and sing along. We all know that sometimes love can suck, and this song explains that nicely. “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and “Armageddon It” are the best reasons why anyone nowadays picks up this album. Those are the two most popular songs on this album, in my opinion. One can never forget the rhythm of songs like “Hysteria” (one of my favorite videos) and “Love And Affection”. These are some powerful ballads, as well as some of the best written music out there.

I am a huge fan of Def Leppard’s music, as I grew up with them and their videos in the MTV era. I can listen to Def Leppard on any given day and find a song that would be suitable for any occasion.

Def Leppard’s Sparkle Lounge songs

by on Jul.25, 2007, under articles

I don’t think I need to tell you my thoughts on the title of their upcoming album, “Songs from the sparkle lounge”.

Are they going to Leppardize the title or leave it named after there recording area on the road? I’ve been a fan of their music ever since the early days and I hope this album has some great music on it. I’m fickle and was hoping for a better album title, but whining won’t get me anywhere….

According to Vivian Campbell, here are some of the working song titles for the new album:

Only the good die young
Cruise control
Give it away
Hallucination
Bad actress
Love

No one knows exactly how many of these song titles will make it to the album, but time will tell. I’m hoping that these songs rock. I know they will. Maybe this is just a reason for me to post more pictures of the hotness that is Joe Elliott.

Def Leppard rocks! Forget this bozo!

by on Jul.09, 2007, under articles

I came across this little tidbit from the Columbus, Ohio show, via DefLeppardSOL. This guy is ranting and raving about my favorite eighties rock band, Def Leppard.

He must be jealous. Joe Elliott will always look better than this nimrod and he definitely has poor taste in music!!

Check this out:

Lead singer Joe Elliott is affable enough in a bloke’s sort of way, but his voice is the very definition of mediocre and the years have not been kind to it. He sang off key for much of the band’s hour and a half set and strained to reach high notes on hit singles that most assuredly were reached in the past thanks to the magic of the recording studio.

He’s functional at best.

And certainly there are better guitarists in rock ‘n’ roll than Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell. Not that there’s anything at all wrong with Collen and Campbell. They’re both fine players. They are simply unexceptional.

WTF?!?!???

Jealous because he’s not a rock icon like any of these guys. I think this guy missed his calling as a waiter at some cheesy restaurant. Check!

Joe Elliott: Def Leppard isn’t a hair band

by on Jul.06, 2007, under articles

They at least used to be considered a hair band….but I can see Joe’s point of view, when considering they did sell more than ten million copies of Pyromania and Hysteria.

Phil Collen elaborates on the hair band idea, via Blabbermouth:

“The TV thing, it’s such a huge thing. Unfortunately we did get lumped in with POISON. It was the time frame,” Collen said.

You don’t see the band as magazine cover boys too often, and Elliott elaborated on why they aren’t placed there or among lists of the best musicians of all time.

“Rolling Stone and some of the others are really going to be stumped as to whom to put on the cover in a few years because Dylan’s going to be dead, McCartney is going to be dead, the STONES are going to be dead. Is anybody going to step up to the plate in their eyes that they can now turn into the icon?”

I still think they rock, hair band label or not! Just my two cents.

Def Leppard’s Jimmy Kimmel performance cancelled

by on Jun.21, 2007, under articles

Per Def Leppard.com:

Since all episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live taking place from June 22 to June 25 have been cancelled, we are sorry to report that this Friday’s show, where Def Leppard was supposed to perform, will not take place. Unfortunately we do not have any further details, but the show’s production company ensured us that thet are working on rescheduling the band for a future episode.

Well that just sucks. I was looking forward to seeing them on the show. Hopefully they will reschedule my favorite 80′s band for another show.

Until then, enjoy this vid:

More Def Leppard news!

by on Jun.14, 2007, under articles

Def Leppard will be performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on June 22, 2007. I’ll be watching that to see what songs they perform and hopefully will be able to snag a video clip from youtube of it shortly thereafter.

Also, the tentatively named new album, “Songs from the Sparkle Lounge” has had some work done on it by the band. They’re saying that nearly 85-90% of the album is finished. Here’s hoping they come up with a different album title, because I still feel that one is a little dorky, even for an eighties band.

We all know how I feel about the title….

Music Review: Def Leppard “Pyromania”

by on May.28, 2007, under articles

In 1983, the radio was inundated with music along the likes of New Kids on the Block and Debbie Gibson. At the tender age of nine, I was introduced to Def Leppard’s third album, “Pyromania” by my uncle Ronnie.

Listening to this album gives you such a good old-fashioned 80′s vibe, now. Back then, it was the coolest thing ever. I took this music back with me and have listened to Def Leppard ever since.

Gunter glieben glauten globen.

That’s enough to start off an awesome rock song. That song would be “Rock of ages”, which brought on an invasion, which would be the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. “Rock of ages” is still a song that everyone would recognize and sing along with.

“Rock! Rock! (‘Til You Drop)” really needs no introduction at all. It’s an upbeat song with a hard rock beat. It’s a get-up-and-go song. This is played when I go for a walk at work, it’s very motivational.

Most notable is the song, “Photograph”, in which the video details a story about Marilyn Monroe. This song really shows off Joe Elliott’s vocals and this is where he brought in the union jack.

The record ends with “Billy’s Got A Gun”, which is a number that slowed the record down. It’s a perfect ending to a great beginning. I still remember listening to the 45 and the scratching sound at the end of this song.

R.I.P. Steve Clark.

Def Leppard: My little hair band

by on May.19, 2007, under articles

my little hair band

I read over at Blabbermouth that Def Leppard’s working title for their newest album is “Sparkle Lounge”.

Say what? I guess I heard that right the first time. Clearly I was expecting something along the lines of Hysteria, Pyromania, or Euphoria. If they name their new album Sparkle Lounge, I’m going to have to clown them for the rest of eternity.

Don’t get me wrong, I grew up with Def Leppard. Pyromania was one of the first tapes I ever owned (and I still have it.) If they go all crazy insane and title their new album “Sparkle Lounge”, I’m going to lose a degree of respect for them as artists.
