Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley has been attacked and hospitalized in Japan, after he was hanging out at a bar on Thursday.

People magazine reports:

A message, posted early Friday morning, on the band’s Facebook fan page says, “It is unfortunate to say, but Deryck Whibley is still in the hospital. He was attacked late last night in Japan. We are waiting for results and we are hoping for the best. Thanks for your support.”

Three men attacked Whibley in a bar and police in Japan, where the band is playing the Summer Sonic rock festival, are investigating the incident.

He still plans to play at the Summersonic show. Take it easy, Deryck!

A source said, “They’re hooking up, but they’re keeping it low-key. You can tell they’re into each other and both like to have a good time. They’re cute together.”

Despite the rumors that there is tension between Avril Lavigne and soon-to-be ex-husband Deryck Whibley, causing a delay in her album’s release, she says it’s quite the opposite.

Her new album, “Pink Crust” was already pushed back once and is likely to be released in the summer. It was rumored that because Whibley was producing the album, he was causing some tension with its release.

She said, “We still work together all the time. He’s one of my best friends. We’ve been friends for a really long time, and we always will be. We’re family and we have a connection. We work really well together.”
