Ellen DeGeneres announces split from American Idol
by Roberta Ferguson on Jul.29, 2010, under articles

If you were getting used to seeing Ellen DeGeneres at the judge’s table on American Idol, then you can forget about it. After rumors that she was squabbling with Simon Cowell, he announced that he was leaving to grow his new show X Factor. Now, Ellen has just announced that she’s also jumping ship.
She took to her official website to say this:
A couple months ago, I let FOX and the “American Idol” producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on “Idol” and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.
I wonder who they’re going to get to fill two vacant judge’s seats? Any guesses?

Adam Lambert sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for an interview and performance. He gave a sweet performance of his new song, If I Had You, much to the delight of the audience.

Ellen DeGeneres does not like Simon Cowell
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.25, 2010, under articles
According to TMZ, American Idol judges Ellen DeGeneres and Simon Cowell are not on the best of terms with each other.
The feuding started when Ellen reported for her first day of work on the show, to which Simon was reportedly late. That’s not the only reason for her dislike, however. She doesn’t particularly care for the way that he badgers the contestants and rips on them for their performances.
Our insiders say Simon and Ellen aren’t even trying to hide it. Ellen can’t stand what she believes is Simon’s cruelty toward contestants. And, we’re told, Simon actually enjoys pissing Ellen off with his blistering critiques.
It all started badly when Simon showed up late for Ellen’s first week of “A.I.” taping and made her wait around. Producers separated the two — who began the season sitting side-by-side — but the tension has gotten worse.
But business is business. “A.I.” is beating the Olympics, and ratings for Ellen’s show skyrocketed last week.
Are you glad that he’s no longer going to be on the show after this season? Who do you think should replace him?
Video: Sade performs ‘Soldier Of Love’ on ‘Ellen’
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.19, 2010, under articles
Sade performed their newest hit song, “Soldier Of Love” on Ellen’s show and it was fan-freakin-tastic. I absolutely love listening to this woman sing.
Ever since the eighties when Sade came out with “Smooth Operator”, they became a household name. The group fell off of the radar for an entire ten years before making their comeback with 2010′s “Soldier Of Love”.
Enjoy their performance, after the jump! (continue reading…)
Guy Oseary to replace Simon Cowell on ‘American Idol’?
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.09, 2010, under articles
Rumor has it that Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary is being considered as a replacement for Simon Cowell on “American Idol”.
A source said, “Guy has been in the music business since Madonna discovered him when he was 17, and he has a lot of the same experience as Simon. His competition just can’t live up to his level of experience and the people behind the show are slowly starting to realize it.”
I still want Howard Stern to be his replacement. The Shock Jock has already said that he would do it for $100 million. It’s too bad that Ellen DeGeneres doesn’t feel the same way.
It’s obviously becoming a sinking ship, the producers of the show will need a really big name to up the ante to keep viewership. Who do you think they should pick?
Howard Stern would replace Simon Cowell for $100 million
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.08, 2010, under articles
Howard Stern addressed rumors that he is gearing up to replace Simon Cowell as a judge on “American Idol”.
The shock jock said, “They’d have to pay me a ton of dough because I already make a ton of dough. Yeah I would do that show for $100 million.”
I would love to see that. We’d have Howard, Ellen and Randy. Now if they would only can Kara DioGuardi, it would be the best show ever.
Howard Stern to take Simon Cowell’s place on ‘American Idol’?
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.05, 2010, under articles
Apparently “American Idol” is ready to jump on the Howard Stern bandwagon. After Mr. Nasty, Simon Cowell, announced that he was jumping ship next year for “X Factor” in the States, that left a lot of people wondering who is going to fill his shoes.
According to Page Six, it may just be the Shock Jock himself. Idol insiders say that Stern is their top pick for a replacement for Cowell and they have approached him to take his empty judge’s seat on the singing competition.
A source said, “It’s one of the few shows that could compete with Stern’s $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and Idol bosses think he’s be even nastier than Simon. They know he would be great TV and would clash with the other judges such as Ellen DeGeneres and the contestants. Idol will do what it takes to sign him.” (continue reading…)

Simon Cowell is leaving ‘American Idol’
by Jed Eckert on Jan.11, 2010, under articles
Just after talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has joined the new season of “American Idol”, Simon Cowell says this one will be his last.
What’s also being said is that Ellen is already having second thoughts on joining the talent competition. Reportedly, Ellen has said “she doesn’t want to do it if Simon isn’t on the show.”
Who could blame her? And would you watch a show that only had Kara and Randy left? Makes you wonder why they didn’t renew Paula Abdul’s contract.

Now that Ellen DeGeneres is in as the fourth “American Idol” judge, the talent competition has released this photo showing all of the judges.
I can’t help but to think that they should have kept Paula Abdul and traded Kara DioGuardi for Ellen. Either way, I hope Ellen will run the show with her comedy and that somebody will tell Kara to keep her trap shut.
What do you think?

John Mayer & Ellen DeGeneres Sing “Just Dance” In The Bathroom
by Roberta Ferguson on Feb.11, 2009, under articles
This video is so cute and funny. John Mayer was on Ellen DeGeneres’ show Monday and they sang Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” in a bathroom.
It sounds like Ellen’s just doing it for the fun of it and John’s really trying. She sounds better, in my opinion. Dance music is just not his thing. Still cute that they did this, though.
A sneak peek of Britney Spears carolling with Ellen DeGeneres
by Roberta Ferguson on Dec.11, 2008, under articles
Britney Spears was on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, carolling with her in front of some random person’s fireplace. They first attempted to sing Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, but ended up doing Silent Night.
After the clip of them singing, it’s cut to Ellen who jokes that she had to “keep teaching her about harmony.” Too funny. See the entire show on Tuesday.
