It was rumored that “American Idol” was courting Enrique Iglesias to join the show in Randy Jackson’s place as a judge. Those negotiations have fallen through and Randy is back on the judging team.
The judges have came and went, but Randy has been the longest running judge on the show since its inception in 2002. Since being in talks with Enrique, it was said that Randy would mentor the contestants, thus leaving another spot or two on the judging panel.
According to “Deadline Hollywood”, Fox made the last minute decision when Enrique bailed on talks. The network already had an option on Randy, so his continuation on the judge’s panel went without a hitch. Simon Cowell said on Twitter, “Just heard Randy is back on Idol. Right decision.”
Indeed! They shouldn’t eliminate the longest running judge on the show, that would just be ludicrous! What do you think? Will you watch the show if the judges are Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj?
Now that Mariah Carey has signed on to judge the upcoming season of “American Idol”, we’ve heard reports that Enrique Iglesias might be joining the team!
Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have already confirmed that they won’t be back for another season of the hit singing competition. In addition, Randy Jackson, the show’s longest running original judge, has announced that he’s taking a mentoring position on the show.
According to the latest gossip, Enrique is in talks to become a judge on the show. Reportedly, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are in talks to sign contracts, but Mariah is the only judge that has been confirmed for the new season.
Mariah was said to be miffed that Nicki was being considered for the judge’s position because she was under the impression she would be the only female judge on the show.
Who do you want to see judging the next season of the show?
Just yesterday, Britney Spears made the announcement that she was going on tour in support of her new album, Femme Fatale. In that announcement, she said that Enrique Iglesias would be joining her on tour.
Well, that was then. Right after the announcement was made, Enrique complained that he wasn’t listed as a co-headliner on the tour. So he pulled the plug on the whole shebang.
But just hours before Britney’s camp went public, Enrique was burning up the phone lines and the Internet, engaging various people connected with the tour in lengthy conversations in which he made it clear — he was, in reality, Britney’s opening act and he wanted out.
One source says the deal was actually very favorable to Enrique … “great terms and great placement.” But we’re told it all came down to taking the stage before Brit — too much to handle.
Wow. That would’ve been a good tour. I wonder who’s going to be Enrique’s replacement?
Season eight “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert says that he was starstruck when he first met Madonna.
He says, “I’ve met a lot of people that I look up to, artists that I respect. That’s been crazy. Just last night I met Usher, Enrique Iglesias and My Chemical Romance at the studio. I’ve just been meeting these artists and they know who I am now because of the show and Rolling Stone … it’s just weird to be on the same page as them, so to speak.”
Lambert goes on to say that he met the one artist who left him the most star struck, Madonna. He adds, “I met Madonna and that was pretty wild. Most everybody I’ve met is pretty cool and on the level, but Madonna is just legendary. I’ve been a fan of hers since I was a kid. So that’s definitely part of the intimidation factor.”
I’d be star struck, too. She’s a total icon.
