TMZ is reporting that Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donnerson, and brother Jason were shot and killed in Chicago earlier today. The bodies were found dead at the scene at 2:44 p.m. A cousin who lived nearby discovered the bodies.

What a tragedy!

An APB was issued today for Jason’s white 1994 Chevy Suburban with license plate No. X584859. An amber alert has also been issued for who is believed to be Jennifer’s 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

Jennifer Hudson owes her success to American Idol and her acting career to Dreamgirls. She cited 2007 as her banner year, but in 2008, the former American Idol will get to do what she wants most, to sing:

“I love acting and I hope I don’t ever have to choose between acting and singing, but singing is what I worked 17 years to do. That’s what I dreamed of. And I get to do it this year.”

The star already has a Golden Globe and an Oscar, so the Grammy is next on her list. And with a voice like she has, it’ll be no time before she has one.
