Jennifer Lawrence’s Best Friend Laura Simpson Recalls Oscar Night

Jennifer Lawrence's Best Friend Laura Simpson Recalls Oscar Night

In case you’ve missed it, Jennifer Lawrence brought her best friend Laura Simpson to the 86th Annual Academy Awards and the results of that are just priceless — and funny.

On her Myspace page, Simpson gave her account of the evening and it’s well worth the read. Recalling how they met in the first place, she revealed, “Seven years ago at an event where we both didn’t know a single person. We hit it off over a mutual respect for Chandler Bing, and we have been eating pizza together ever since.”

With regard to Lawrence’s falling incident this year, she said, “We finally arrive at the red carpet and as we exit the car, my date eats s**t and uses my freshly done Lauren Conrad updo to break her fall. The crowd goes wild. There are flashbulbs and people circling yet no one asks if I need any help because unless you are famous at the Oscars, you are completely invisible. The only time anyone talks to you is if you are in the way of his or her photo.”

With regard to the ceremony itself, she said, “Basically everyone in the theater is just sitting in complete darkness during the categories. It’s hot and you feel like you’re going to pass out. After waiting for my date’s category, her dad and I decide to hit the bar and just watch from the monitor behind the bar and slam a few drinks to make this tolerable. The Academy really needs to spring for more hors d’oeuvres options because now everyone is hammered.”

For all of you wondering what Brad Pitt smells like, she’s got the inside scoop on that as well. She added, “After the show we go backstage where I meet Brad and Angelina. Brad Pitt smells amazing, like nothing I’ve ever smelled. Eventually we ask what cologne he’s wearing and he tells us, ‘I don’t wear cologne, it’s just my musk I guess.’”

Nicholas Hoult: Fame Hasn’t Changed Jennifer Lawrence

Nicholas Hoult: Fame Hasn't Changed Jennifer Lawrence

Nicholas Hoult has spoken out about his relationship with girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence, saying that everything is “pretty much the same.”

After meeting on the set of “X-Men: First Class”, the couple began dating. They later split in January 2013, but have since rekindled their relationship while reprising their “X-Men” roles.

When speaking with “V Man” magazine, Hoult told the publication that Lawrence isn’t letting the fame get to her. He revealed, “It’s like that thing whereby you don’t believe your own hype. Enjoy the good times, but don’t get swept away with it. I think that’s something she’s capable of doing, and that’s what makes her special, but yeah, it is very odd, and I am just kind of a bystander in many ways. It is well-deserved for her. I haven’t really seen any change in her.”

He said that their level of privacy is the only thing that has changed. He said, “The privacy thing obviously changes but the rest pretty much stays the same.”

He also spoke of working with his girlfriend on the set of “X-Men: Days Of Future Past”. He added, “It’s fun because in this business you are away from one another for long periods of time, so when you’re on set together it’s a brilliant thing, because you actually get to spend time together. Especially with this film, I got to spend time with her.”

Oscars Round-Up

Oscars Round-Up

The 86th annual Academy Awards were Sunday night, and in some ways, they weren’t surprising at all: “12 Years a Slave” won in the best picture category, which most people saw coming; Matthew McConaughey snagged the award for best actor for his work in “Dallas Buyers Club,” which, despite die-hard DiCaprio fans’ “#PoorLeo” wails on Twitter, was the obvious (and I maintain correct) choice; the luminous and stunning breakout star Lupita Nyong’o won for the category of best actress in a supporting role for her part in “12 Years a Slave”; and the delightful film “Frozen” won for animated feature film.

All this is well and good. But let’s get to the juicy gossip.

Amid rumors of a divorce, Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres appeared to be as in love as ever with her wife Portia de Rossi at the Vanity Fair after-party. As reported by the Huffington Post, Ellen addressed the rumors by claiming that “the only thing we ever argue about is who loves who more. That is all.” Well, that’s settled.

Scarlett Johansson is pregnant. Very pregnant. With fiancé Romain Dauriac’s child. That’s right: the woman who less than two years ago said that she may never get married again and, according to EOnline, that she’s “not having kids any time soon” and the idea of starting a family right now is “not important to me.” I guess things changed?

The actress was the voice of the operating system in the film “Her,” which was nominated for best picture. In it, she (as the operating system) arranges for her boyfriend, Theodore, played by Joaquin Phoenix, to have sex with a “sex surrogate” since she herself does not have a body. It was a strange scene, but in some ways it represents the ways in which people (or machines) are getting creative these days (or, in the case of “Her,” in the future) with sex. More and more couples are thinking outside the box. I’m not suggesting a sex surrogate or anything… maybe just a game, which according to one reviewer at Adam & Eve, “is a nice way to bring a little variation into the bedroom.” The variation we saw Scarlett Johansson provide in “Her” might be a few years off yet…

Jennifer Lawrence fell. Again. Might she reconsider the ball gown next time? Perhaps sneakers and running shorts suit her better. As the Washington Post points out, the Oscar-winning (last year) and -nominated actress “didn’t waste any time doing something screengrab-worthy at an awards show, promptly tripping on a traffic cone almost immediately as she arrived at the red carpet.” Last year after winning for best actress, she fell on her way up the stairs to receive her trophy. Yikes. The Twitter-verse was alive with people suggesting she might fall on purpose, either to keep up the tradition, or to get attention.

After being nominated in 1986 for her work in “The Color Purple,” Oprah Winfrey was snubbed for a nomination this year for “The Butler.” So instead of taking home a trophy, Winfrey put her longtime feud with rapper Snoop to rest. Years ago, Winfrey called out Snoop’s music for being misogynistic, but at the after-party on Sunday, they posed together making peace signs in a photo. Peace, indeed.

Well, that’s a wrap. Here’s to next year, Leo.

Jennifer Lawrence Taking Hiatus From Acting

Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is taking a bit of a break from the acting scene — a year to be precise.

In the past twelve months, the actress has made a total of eight movies and Harvey Weinstein said that she has earned this break. In a recent interview, he said, “She’s going to have a long break for a year where she won’t do anything. It’s been non-stop for her and she deserves a rest.”

The producer also talked of Jennifer’s decision to skip the BAFTAs, despite winning an award for her role in the movie “American Hustle”. He said, “Jennifer is too nice and will do people favors and agrees to do a movie like ‘American Hustle’ when she could have had a rest. She signed on to do ‘Hunger Games’ when she was young and wouldn’t have realized how much it would dominate her life. But she’s a professional and always will be.”

Jennifer has also taken some time to look at houses with her boyfriend Nicholas Hoult. A source revealed, “They loved the house as soon as they saw it. They know it’s not realistic at this point in their thriving careers to live in the U.K., but they want a bolthole across the pond. Jen loves the English way of life and as they are now serious again, it makes sense to look into buying somewhere.”

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 Poster Revealed

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 Poster Revealed

Lionsgate has released the official movie poster for The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part One! Who’s excited? We know we are. We absolutely cannot wait to see the third movie in the franchise, but unfortunately we will have to wait until November for that luxury.

The movie poster, which was just released, features a fiery mockingjay pin of the sort that Katniss Everdeen wore to her first death match. While the poster doesn’t feature our favorite protagonist or her on-screen boyfriend Peeta Mellark, it definitely shows off the legendary pin that symbolizes freedom for the residents of Panem.

Fans of the franchise will have to wait to see what’s in store for the final two films in the series. Despite that, the movie poster’s release does give us something to look forward to in the coming months. Let’s hope that the third movie will stay true to the book and that it all plays out well on the big screen.

Will you be going to the theaters this November to catch the newest Hunger Games movie? Hit the comments and leave us your thoughts!
