We are still bummed out that Lyric145 was first on the chopping block on Wednesday night’s elimination episode of “The X Factor”. They got eliminated by the public and weren’t given the chance to compete in a final sing-off for survival. In case you’ve missed the show, you can read our full recap here.
When asked about what they had planned on performing on Tuesday night’s show and how it could have changed things for them, they had a trick up their sleeve that didn’t come to fruition. They said, “Basically, our plan was to take a legendary diva song, which we did, and actually write our own original lyrics. It was a very, very mix between a diva and a hip-hop track and arguably was going to be our best performance yet — like this is coming from the producers of the show.”
The group went on to say, “And the night before the live shows, we got a call saying they didn’t want us to do the song we had been preparing. And then the night of the show, we got a new song. So we only had a couple hours to perform a brand new song. It was very spur of the moment, and I mean, I’m actually proud of us for executing a performance the way we did – being able to do it within so little time.”
They continued, “And when we got eliminated, we were disappointed to hear the judges say what they had to say, because that was exactly our plan — to do a hip-hop song with original lyrics. But you know, you have to take the good with the good and the bad with the bad and make the best out of the situation.”
As to whether or not they will be staying together as a group, they revealed, “Yes, definitely — without a doubt. We definitely want to stay together. We feel like this whole situation was divine and it was like meant to be. So to go against that right now would just be not the best idea, so we feel like we work together so well and we have the best chemistry between each other, that it’s only right for us to stay together.”
With regard to what song they would’ve performed if given the chance, they added, “Oh we had – I still don’t feel like we should tell the world what we were going to do. If we would’ve had to sing for survival, we would’ve definitely survived. We would’ve lost our total minds onstage. We had something planned outrageous for TV. No one would’ve expected it. It was unexpected. But yeah, we can’t give you that secret. We’re so sorry.”
Were you upset to see Lyric145 get eliminated on Thursday night’s episode of “The X Factor”?
On Thursday night’s elimination episode of “The X Factor USA”, we saw the elimination of Lyric145 and also rock singer Jennel Garcia. Jennel sang “The Reason” by Hoobastank for her sing-off against Paige Thomas, who performed “Paradise” by Coldplay. Jennel’s performance was not enough to keep her in the competition — and we are sad to see her go. In case you’ve missed the show, you can read our full recap here.
In a new interview after her elimination from the reality TV competition, Jennel spoke of her mentor Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell. It was no secret that Simon was bullying Demi with regard to her vote to keep or send Jennel home. Mario Lopez was pushing for Simon to give his vote first, considering that it’s customary for the act’s mentor to go last. Still, Demi voted to send Paige home and thus, wanted Jennel to remain in the competition (or for the vote to go into a deadlock in the case of a tie).
When asked how she felt when she found that Demi was the only one to vote to keep her, she said, “Well, it feels great that my mentor chose me, because the bottom two were two people in her category.” She went on to say, “She loves both of us and she was the one who worked with both of us and knows what the both of us are capable of doing, so the fact that she chose me helped me get through this and so much.”
She added, “Because out of all the four judges, she’s the one who knew the most about me, and she chose me. So that’s amazing. That means so much to me.”
Were you saddened to see Jennel Garcia get eliminated on Thursday’s episode of “The X Factor”? Does Paige Thomas deserve to be in the top ten instead? Who do you think will win the second season of the show?
Simon Cowell’s group Lyric145 really took a risk with their mashed up version of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” and Katy Perry’s song “ET”, but we found it energizing. Loved it! Did you watch the show? In case you’ve missed the full episode of the show, we did our live recap here.
Watch the group’s performance:
L.A. Reid said that he was confused about who the diva is, but was quickly cut off by Simon, who offered up the late, great Freddie Mercury. He said that their performance this week was good and that it was better than last week. He called last week’s performance a disaster (it wasn’t). Britney Spears said that she felt that they are a Hip Hop Group and should be doing Hip Hop tracks. Demi Lovato said that “ET” didn’t fit at all and that she didn’t get it. Simon said that they had very little time to prepare this performance and that he did get it. He said that he thinks people at home get it. He added that with the little time the group had to prepare, they never complained and that they bring an energy that this show needs.
