Mark Ronson Feels Lucky To Have Known Amy Winehouse

Music producer Mark Ronson says that he feels lucky to have known Amy Winehouse.

The two collaborated on her album, Back To Black and he says that he will never forget Amy or her influence on his career.

He revealed, “I’d been producing records for twelve years before I met Amy and I’d been trying so hard to have hits, but without any luck. The moment I thought to myself, ‘I’m never going to make it. I may as well just make music that I like’ is the moment I met Amy — we just created what we wanted rather than being concerned with what was on the radio at the time.”

He continued, “Something like Amy’s record comes along once in a lifetime, if that. Ultimately, Amy was one of those rare artists who made a very important record and they loved her. I was just lucky enough to have gone along for the ride.”

He added, “Winning and having success hasn’t changed my life but it has taught me a lot about myself and the nature of this business. The main thing being, to only work on stuff I believe in, regardless of what anyone else thinks.”

Fallen singer Amy Winehouse’s funeral was today, and in attendance, were her friends Mark Ronson and Kelly Osbourne, and of course, her parents. Mark produced most of Amy’s album, Back To Black and was close friends with her throughout her career.

Kelly arrived with her hair in a blonde beehive, paying tribute to Amy, as that was her signature hairstyle.

The funeral service was held at Edgwarebury Lane cemetery in London, England. The service was said to have lasted for 45 minutes. Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, gave a touching eulogy for his late daughter. He said, “Goodnight my angel … Sleep tight. Mommy and Daddy love you ever so much.”

So sad. May she rest in peace.

Boy George is making a comeback

by on Jan.25, 2011, under articles

Culture Club singer Boy George has been labeled singer-songwriter, DJ, fashion designer and photographer, but he’ll always be the one who introduced me to good old fashioned Reggae back in the 1980′s.

Culture Club’s debut album, Kissing To Be Clever, was released in 1982, included hits such as I’ll Tumble 4 Ya, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me and Time (Clock Of The Heart). With this album, they rose to international fame and became a household name. My favorite song from this particular album is I’m Afraid Of Me:

Culture Club Discography:

Kissing To Be Clever - Buy It Now Price: $5.84 - $23.50 Colour By Numbers - Buy It Now Price: $5.71 - $23.50 Waking Up With The House On Fire - Buy It Now Price: $2.75 - $15.77 From Luxury To Heartache - Buy It Now Price: $3.99 - $24.99 Don't Mind If I Do - Buy It Now Price: $8.94 - $31.69

Check out the below videos to relive some of their hits, including, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, Karma Chameleon , Church Of The Poison Mind and It’s A Miracle:

Boy George has also done some solo work, after parting ways with the band. In addition to that, every fan also needs an autographed photo of their favorite singer. Picture discs are that special, one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia that is important to serious music collectors, such as myself. DVDs are also a good way for all of us fans to remember the good days, watching Karma Chameleon and for some of us, trying to emulate George’s immaculate makeup and fashion sense.

Most recently, George has collaborated with producer and guitarist, Mark Ronson on his latest album, Record Collection. George provides the vocals for Somebody To Love Me, along with Miike Snow frontman Andrew Wyatt. The song is reminiscent of George’s earlier Reggae-infused music and style. Please click the following link to head on over to The Inside Source, for information on George’s comeback album with Mark Ronson. The song is definitely an earworm and showcases his musical talent.

Fans across the globe will agree, George really revolutionized the way music is today. In most of today’s pop and dance hits, you can hear a hint of his musical style. If you are an eighties music buff like me, then eBay has already been your destination for kinds of memorabilia. You can get Boy George CDs there, because it’s the cheapest way to get those hard to get items. Also, you can get rare items and autographed memorabilia. For the uber fan, you can go retro and pick up some Boy George 45rpm records. Personally, my favorite thing to collect are the magazine back issues that feature George and Culture Club on the covers.

What’s your favorite Culture Club/Boy George item to collect? What’s your favorite album? Let us know in the comments!

Amy Winehouse’s new album: out by the end of the year

by on Jul.16, 2010, under articles

Amy Winehouse’s new album should be out by the end of the year. She told Metro, “It’s going to be very much the same as my second album, where there’s a lot of jukebox stuff… I just can’t wait to have some new songs on stage.” Mark Ronson made her career by producing her second album, Back to Black.

Ronson told the The Sun that, “Although Winehouse’s record label was also promising a new album by the end of the year, I have my doubts. Amy hasn’t been working on her next record. When she’s got ten songs then we’ll go down to the studio together.”

Do you think she’ll make the album in time?

Mark Ronson: “Lily Allen Made Me Pay For A Helicopter”

by on Mar.02, 2009, under articles

Nice. I guess when Lily feels she’s hit the big time, she wants to arrive for a show in style….and so she did.

Apparently the super-producer, Mark Ronson offered jokingly (or so he says) to buy Lily Allen “anything you want, a car, a driver, a helicopter” when she agreed to perform at Glastonbury last year. He says that he was stunned that she called him on it and had her assistant call him with the $10,000 bill.

He says, “She completely took me seriously! And what was I going to say at that point? I had to f**king pay for it. She got the helicopter.”

Hey, I’d say don’t offer a chopper and be stunned when you get the bill. You offered, Mark. You said, “Anything you want”. What else ya got?

It was rumored that Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse had a little bit of a falling out over the Bond theme. Mark wants to quash the rumors and says that just the opposite is true. He says that he just hasn’t been able to catch up with Amy because he’s spending so much time in the U.S.

He says, “I haven’t been in England in a while. I always go and see her when I’m there and I saw her about six weeks ago but I haven’t spoken to her in a little while.”

So, don’t believe the hype! Mark Ronson is still Crackie friendly. He’s just been busy.

Mark Ronson & Daisy Lowe

Mark Ronson has split up with ex-girlfriend Daisy Lowe! That’s good news for us ladies. It was said that their relationship was in trouble due to the age difference between them. With him being 33 and her being 19, I can imagine that they didn’t have much to talk about. On the same token, I still wonder what Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood discuss amongst themselves. He’s uber smart and she’s a Dita wannabe.

You know, Mark and I are the same age. You know what that means, right? Nothing, sadly, it just means that we’re the same age. You’d have to be a waif-like young model to tap that.

9 songs about Valerie

by on Aug.09, 2008, under articles

I was perusing through some old and new songs…..starting off with Quarterflash, who did Valerie….they actually recently made a new album…who knew?

I don’t think they made a real video for the song, but that’s the cover for the tape….I actually had that one, I still might.

Then, thanks to Youtube, I saw Valerie by the Zutons. I don’t know the singer’s name (yet), but dude is cute. I’m going to use my google-fu to find out stuff about stalk him.

This is the live version cuz Universal sucks and won’t let me embed the other one.

Then, there’s Steve Winwood’s Valerie. Crap, Valerie got around, didn’t she?

This one was popular in the early 80′s. Listen to it for a sec, you’ll remember.

Then Amy Winehouse sang about her along with Mark Ronson.

Who else?

Okay, so I asked. I found Valerie by the Poptart Monkeys:

V For Vendetta brought the musical score that is Valerie:

Some band called Joy sang Valerie in Russia:

Panic! At The Disco covered “Valerie” and the video is cool, if you like to read while listening:

I couldn’t bare to find anymore…did I miss any?
