Dave Mustaine Supports Rick Santorum For President

Dave Mustaine Supports Rick Santorum For President

In a recent interview, Megadeth singer Dave Mustaine has thrown his support behind Rick Santorum for President. Why? — Because clearly only the best of the best of the best have the moral fiber needed to suspend a campaign for one day to be at their sick infant daughter’s side. As much as I love Megadeth’s music and have been a fan for years, the inanity of this weird endorsement just kills me.

Mustaine said, “Earlier in the election, I was completely oblivious as to who Rick Santorum was, but when the dude went home to be with his daughter when she was sick, that was very commendable.”

Using that logic, any Tom, Dick or Harry can be President if only he is a good parent. Isn’t that what all good parents do when their children are sick? What kind of douche would tell their kid, “Hey, I’m trying to campaign here! Suck it up!”?

The singer continued, “You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I’m hoping that if it does come down to it, we’ll see a Republican in the White House…and that it’s Rick Santorum.”

Why are heavy metal singers endorsing political candidates publicly?

Activision rapes Kurt Cobain’s image

by on Sep.10, 2009, under articles

Kurt Cobain in Guitar Hero 5Activision has put Kurt Cobain in some rather unsightly poses in “Guitar Hero 5″ and he looks pretty silly. Ever thought Kurt would be jamming out to “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi? How about rapping along to Public Enemy’s “Bring The Noise”? Kurt was also seen getting up close to sing Megadeth’s “Sweating Bullets”. While all are pretty decent songs, should Kurt’s image be used like this?

The video game makers have really done a number on Kurt and he is probably turning over in his grave as I write this.

This would be something that I would normally blame Courtney Love for. She’s sold him out before, so this wouldn’t be the first time. (continue reading…)

Megadeth’s new song ‘Headcrusher’ – behind the scenes video

by on Jun.15, 2009, under articles

megadeth_headcrusher_artworkMegadeth’s producer, Andy Sneap, talks here about the new upcoming Megadeth album, along with the mixing process.

The album, still untitled (?) marks the band’s eleventh studio album to date and is due out sometime in September, 2009.

Dave Mustaine has just updated the band’s official MySpace page yesterday with this:

Droogies!

I am so excited to know that in less than 48 hours I am going to be jamming with my band and getting ready to start the next world tour.

Even though this bit is really early, we are doing these four shows with Slayer in the hopes that the rest of the world will sit up and take notice.

Well . . . they have.

I’m happy to say that we are starting to talk about upcoming shows with our old friends, and co-founders of the American metal scene and one of the other Four Horsemen, as well as another show or so with Pals Judas Priest, and only Lucretia knows who will be on this year/next year’s Gigantours. I’m already digging the posts, including the ones about Megadeth nearing the completion of their newest album, how you can win some pretty cool Cannibal Corpse stuff, and how Rob Halford is launching his own record label.

Dave Mustaine files for divorce again from Pamela, his wife of 17 years

by on Mar.10, 2008, under articles

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has filed for divorce for the second time.

He submitted papers seeking a legal separation from his wife of 17-years, Pamela in San Diego Superior Court on February 28th. He last filed for divorce in 2006, but soon changed his mind.

He was chatting online with fans on the Gigantour forum on February 20th and said, “I am losing my marriage so I am done touring after this so I can move on with my life. I just have had my heart broken and I live for my two children and you (fans) now.”

He added, “I had to shut the Megadeth eBay store because it was one of my future ex’s friends and she told me I wasn’t a good enough Christian and also sent money to someone that claimed I owed her month. I flipped and that was it. Two days later I was in Finland and heading for divorce.”

The couple have two children, Justis and Electra.

Dave Mustaine makes it a special Christmas for kids without parents

by on Dec.25, 2007, under articles

davemustaine1.jpg

Dave Mustaine is selling coffee, as you already know. The brand, Legends Cup, has helped him raise money to give toys to children whose parents are deployed in Iraq or who were killed there.

My hat (if I wore one) is off to Dave. Dave teamed up with Hasbro toys after fans helped him raise cash to buy gifts for military kids.

In the website message to fans, the thrilled rocker says, “None of this would be possible without your support of Legends Cup Coffee Cup. Thank you guys, I really, really mean it.”

Keep rockin’ Dave, you’re awesome!

Dave Mustaine gets mega mad at idiot fan

by on Nov.05, 2007, under articles

Megadeth star Dave Mustaine has fired off an angry missive to fans after a rude Japanese fan told him she’d posted a terrible live review of his band online. The heavy rocker cut short a meet-and-greet session in Japan earlier this week, October 29th, after a so-called fan upset him with news she’d written a damning review of the group’s performance the previous night and posted it in cyberspace.

In a message on Megadeth’s website, Mustaine threatens to pull all future fan sessions after the strange encounter. He fumes, “If there are ever going to be any more meet-and-greets, it will be traced back to this story. “I was just meeting the gracious and always-polite Japanese fans, and some girl made sure to tell me that she proudly posted a bad review of our show. “I was pretty surprised at how rude she was, and how mean it is to go up to someone and say, ‘I posted a bad review of your show last night,’ like I am supposed to thank her. “(It’s) too bad that she ruined it for the rest of the fans that were at the meet-and-greet. I can only wonder: What is it that she was trying to accomplish? It’s like, `Dave, I just clogged your toilet! Aren’t you proud of me?’ “At least they both have one thing in common…”

Now, we have to find this fan and give her the military beating for screwing it up for everybody!

If you think this is cool news, check out the Xbox 360 Guitar Hero contest we’re hosting for Black Tide!

Dave Mustaine cares about his fans

by on Oct.16, 2007, under articles

I wrote about how Dave Mustaine was/is looking for personal assistants via his forums two month ago. One fan was more than happy to oblige by winning the opportunity to be Dave’s go-to guy for a day.

He recalls his story here, and from what I see Dave Mustaine cares about his health, the band’s show, and his fans.

Here’s a snippet:

What does he do… grabs some food and sits right across from me. The first words out of his mouth
are an apology to me for when I knocked on the door at 5:00pm to get some CD’s signed and he not realizing it was
already 5:00pm. This is the first of many conversations and exchanges I witness throughout the evening that shows
the kind of person Mustaine really is to his fans. Kind, considerate and humble. Let’s call it what is… Dave’s the
frontman for one of the most famous metal bands of all-time and he didn’t have to even acknowledge who I was…
let alone apologize to me and make sure I felt a part of the team.

Slash gets sent to driving school because of United Abominations

by on Sep.24, 2007, under articles

Slash, guitar virtuoso for Velvet Revolver, was caught speeding and he’s blaming Megadeth’s new album, United Abominations:

The rocker was caught speeding by police as he blasted United Abominations from his car’s sound system – forgetting he wasn’t behind the wheel of a rocket.

United Abominations must be rockin’. When you get that kind of publicity, it has to be great. Megadeth should pay for the ticket that Slash got, just because they’re friends.

Megadeth and Metallica: Not in Moscow

by on Jul.21, 2007, under articles

According to Blabbermouth, Metallica was looking to have Megadeth play with them in Moscow. If I were Dave Mustaine, I’d tell James Hetfield to suck it. Their music hasn’t been good since the Black album, and that’s being nice. That album wasn’t a real credit to their older talent (ie: Master of Puppets) and Metallica should count themselves lucky that Dave Mustaine ever played with them.

Megadeth rocks. That’s just my two cents.
