Lady Gaga addresses Fame Kills cancellation & 50 Cent
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.02, 2009, under articles
Lady Gaga talked to MTV about the cancellation of her and Kanye West’s Fame Kills Tour, saying, “Actually it was a mutual decision to cancel the tour. But I’m not taking any time off, I’ll be leaving just a week later than I was supposed to…on my own solo tour….Uhhh, going to the same places. I will see you guys there and I’m putting out my re-release, as well, ‘The Fame Monster’, November the 24th.”
When the interviewer asks about 50 Cent’s comments that the tour was “the gay tour” (audio here), she responded, “I think it’s sad. And I think that nobody in any genre should accommodate homophobia.”
And there you have it!

DJ AM’s documentary ‘Gone Too Far’ to air on MTV
by Roberta Ferguson on Sep.25, 2009, under articles
Adam Goldstein was working on a drug abuse documentary, titled “Gone Too Far” for MTV before he was found dead of an apparent drug overdose last month.
It was up in the air as to whether or not MTV would be airing the documentary, because of the way he passed away. Now, we’ve just heard that show producers have decided to air the series.
MTV executives are still in talks over when the show will actually air and have been talking with the Goldstein family about the timing. I think he would’ve wanted it to air to help people with the demons they’re suffering from.
The show’s original air date was set for October 5, 2009.

Was the Kanye West/Taylor Swift kerfuffle planned?
by Roberta Ferguson on Sep.15, 2009, under articles
Kanye West really stole a special moment for Taylor Swift, but there are rumors surfacing now that this was all part of the act.
Reportedly, MTV wanted Jay-Z to perform for the VMAs, and he said that he would — under one condition: they would have to let Beyonce perform and make her look good. Didn’t you walk away from the awards show thinking that Beyonce was a total class act? Hmmmm….
A supposed Jay-Z employee said this: (continue reading…)
Kelly Clarkson responds to Kanye West’s VMAs behavior
by Roberta Ferguson on Sep.14, 2009, under articles
Kanye West acted like a total fool tonight, getting up on stage and grabbing the mic away from Taylor Swift. She won the Best Female Video award and was on stage, giving her acceptance speech.
Kanye took the mic from her and proclaimed that Beyonce put out the best video on the planet. Poor Taylor, just stood there, not knowing what was happening. Beyonce later accepted her award for Video Of The Year and gave Taylor the stage to finish her thoughts. So classy, go Beyonce! (continue reading…)

Lady Gaga’s bloody Paparazzi performance
by Roberta Ferguson on Sep.14, 2009, under articles
Lady Gaga was more than strange at tonight’s Video Music Awards. The singer performed her hit song “Paparazzi” and it was, well, interesting, to say the least.
The video itself was just weird. I love her music and everything and this song is great, but there’s really no explanation for this tomfoolery.

Kathy Griffin Weighs In On ‘TaintGate ’09′ With Eminem
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.01, 2009, under articles
Kathy Griffin talked to Tom O’Neil about the MTV Movie Awards last night, featuring Sacha Baron Cohen’s butt in Eminem’s face.
She says she believes it’s a stunt, but is hoping that it wasn’t:
I don’t think it was a stunt, as Oneil has a point: Cohen doesn’t make it a point to let his victims in on the prank beforehand. And Shady looked mad!!

Miley Cyrus Wins ‘Best Song From A Movie’ At The MTV Movie Awards
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.01, 2009, under articles
Miley Cyrus went up some stiff competition for the “Best Song From A Movie” category at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards.
She was up against A.R. Rahman for “Jai Ho” from “Slumdog Millionaire”, Bruce Springsteen “The Wrestler” from “The Wrestler”, and Paramore’s “Decode” from “Twilight”, but “The Climb” from the “Hannah Montana Movie” came out on top.

Obviously excited when she came out on stage to be presented her award by Lil Wayne, Cyrus said, “Dude! Lil Wayne just handed me my award.”
She then thanked fans who came out in droves for her to win and thanked God, saying, “I wanna thank God. Hellooo! The only reason I’m here!”
I really liked “Jai Ho”, to be perfectly honest. What were your thoughts on Miley Cyrus winning the golden popcorn?
Eminem Before & After Bruno’s Butt In His Face – Photos & Video
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.01, 2009, under articles
In rather disgusting non-music related news, Sacha Baron Cohen was in full Bruno mode when he flew in above some celebrities at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

The actor was dropped onto Eminem, butt first and you can really see how mad Shady was afterward:

I would fathom a guess that Em wasn’t too happy about that ordeal. Think he’s going to show up at the next awards show?

Rapper T.I. To Serve Full Prison Sentence
by Roberta Ferguson on May.20, 2009, under articles
Even though it was said two days ago that T.I.’s prison sentence would be shortened to just 60 days, we’ve just found out that that’s not the case.

According to MTV, the rapper was given credit for 305 days of home confinement, but that has no bearing on his prison sentence. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Charysse Alexander, says that anyone who serves more than a year in prison is eligible for a 15 percent “good time” credit, which in this case could cut his prison sentence by 55 days.
Interview: Mia Carruthers From MTV’s ‘Taking The Stage’
by Roberta Ferguson on May.07, 2009, under articles
Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking with the star of MTV’s “Taking The Stage”, Mia Carruthers.

She was a very nice girl and gave me some inside scoop as to what’s going down on tonight’s season finale of the show, as well as her plans to release a CD.
You can view the entire interview here.
Here’s a snippet:
What would you say to fans who haven’t yet heard your music?
I’d like for them to. You really get a sense of who I am through my music and it’s the reason I did the show in the first place. I’d tell fans I’m a young artist with a mature sound and they should check out my music.
Check out the season finale of the show tonight to find out what happens with Mia’s meeting with Jive Records.

MTV’s TRL cancelled!
by Roberta Ferguson on Sep.15, 2008, under articles

After ten years, MTV is closing the door on the chapter that is TRL. Crazy!
I can’t say that I really watched TRL, matter of fact, I haven’t watched MTV in a longggggggg longgg time. I know that once they used to actually play music videos. Remember when Adam Curry was a VJ? I don’t think I’ve watched since he went off the air.
MTV head honcho Dave Sirulnick, says, “This feels like the right time and let’s celebrate it and let’s reward it. Let’s let it have a little bit of a rest for a minute. Been working hard for 10 years!”
The show will wrap in a two hour special on a Saturday in November.
Are you a fan of TRL?

Kanye West to close out the 2008 VMAs
by Roberta Ferguson on Sep.04, 2008, under articles

After Kanye West pretty much promised that he wouldn’t be doing the VMAs anymore, because his “skin wasn’t right”, but he’s renegging. Apparently, he’s planning to close out this year’s Video Music Awards.
I think he should keep his vow to never return. It just goes to show you that he talks a lot of smack and doesn’t back it up.
Also on hand to perform, is Christina Aguilera. She’s said to be helping commemorate the show’s 25th anniversary by singing her first hit, Genie In A Bottle.

Britney Spears is going to be kicking off this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. She is said to not be performing, so for those of us who had our hopes up for that one, forget about it.
I wonder who they’re going to have performing the opening show…Kanye?
Britney Spears & Russell Brand’s 2008 VMAs promos: “Pinch Me” & “Name”
by Roberta Ferguson on Aug.12, 2008, under articles
I love Russell Brand’s accent. “You won’t hurt me dahhling, I like eet.”
Britney Spears actually looks really good here.
What do you think?
And here’s the other where Britney can’t seem to remember Russell’s last name.
Britney Spears is returning to the 2008 VMAs!
by Roberta Ferguson on Aug.09, 2008, under articles
Britney Spears hasn’t confirmed yet that she’ll be performing at the Video Music Awards this year, but she is doing a promo for the show. From what I understand, she’s doing the promo with Russell Brand. There’s supposedly a lot of ad-libbing and a big white “elephant in the room”. Guess she hasn’t lost her sense of humor.
I was hoping for another craptastic performance. We can hope!
F N MTV?
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.04, 2008, under articles
Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, and Pete Wentz teamed up to shoot a commercial for “F N MTV”.
Don’t these idiots have anything better to do with their time? On the other hand, it’s not like any of them have any real talent, right? But, for now, they’re going to continue to dumb up the atmosphere ala Idiocracy.
