Ice Cube’s new album gets pushed back
by Jed Eckert on Jul.05, 2010, under articles

Ice Cube was all set to release his new album, I Am The West this summer, but has since been delayed — all due to paperwork issues.
He said, “I’ve been working my ass off trying to get it done for you but I ran out of time. The music is right but the paperwork isn’t and since I’m working with a few new producers the contracts are taking a little longer than usual, so I missed my turn-in date.”
It’s being reported that his new album might get released this September. Are you excited for some new music from him?

Radiohead plans to release an album in 2010
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.21, 2010, under articles

Despite saying that they had no plans to release an album this year, Radiohead has decided to do just that.
In a new interview, guitarist Ed O’Brien said, “We’re in the heart of the record. It’s genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been. Ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We’re at the finishing line. When you’re making a record, a film, writing a book for ages and ages, you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it’s in touching distance. But of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there, it might slow down. But yeah, hopefully it will be a matter of weeks.”
Will you buy their upcoming album? I will if they do it like they did In Rainbows.

Black Tide gears up for sophomore album release
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.09, 2010, under articles

Black Tide broke onto the music scene in a big way in 2008 with their fist-pumping, fret-burning, fast-paced metallic anthems on their Interscope Records debut Light From Above. Now the Florida based quartet is at Spin Studios in New York recording their follow-up with producers GGGarth (Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against) and Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God). The as-yet-untitled sophomore set will be released fall 2010!
Light From Above was released in March 2008 and garnered instant acclaim stateside with Rolling Stone naming the band one of the “Best Rookies of 2008” and “Metal’s New Teen Titans.” Spin Magazine went on to tap them as one of the “Next Big Things” and overseas Kerrang named them the “Best New Band of 2008!” Lead vocalist/guitarist Gabriel Garcia, bassist Zakk Sandler, drummer Steven Spence and guitarist Austin Diaz immediately took to the road and to date has rocked over 300 shows in over 16 countries with over 1 million fans!
Black Tide is one of a young, new generation of rock bands who are equally at home in the metal, hard rock, and alternative worlds as evidenced by their inclusion on various package tours – Vans Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Mayhem Festival- and as support for artists such as Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Escape the Fate and more.
Light From Above has sold over 100,000 albums and the band has had over 1 million views of their Youtube videos.
I really love Black Tide, they sound a lot like early Motley Crue. We’ll be picking this up when it goes on sale, for sure. Shockwave is my favorite song by them, what’s yours?

The Specials to record a new album?
by Roberta Ferguson on Mar.30, 2010, under articles

According to Contact Music, The Specials are thinking about recording a new album.
Lead singer Terry Hall has said that the group is positive about the idea of recording a third album after finishing up their 30th anniversary reunion tour next month.
Terry said, “Nothing has been written. We’ve played around a bit, but we’ve all agreed that if we’re going to make an album, it’s got to be an incredibly great album. If we’re up for that, and we think that we have the parts in place, there’s no reason we won’t start recording. I think at this level we need to play for a while, like we did before we had a record deal.”

Christina Aguilera’s new album inspired by motherhood
by Roberta Ferguson on Jan.06, 2010, under articles
Christina Aguilera says that being a mother to her son Max has inspired her new album.
Her fourth album, “Biopic”, is due out in stores in March and she says that we can all expect a little something different.
She said, “I had a really hard time being light before. I’d get a little weird about it being too cliched. My first record was very cliched pop, what everyone else wanted. ‘Stripped’ was inspired by a lot of pain and ‘Back To Basics’ sitll had some sort of relation to my past. My new one is just about the future, my son in my life, motivating me to want to play and have fun.”
And she’s not giving up her racy style on stage, either. She adds, “As far as motherhood affecting me creatively goes – like, ‘I shouldn’t be wearing that because I’m a mom’ – it hasn’t. That wouldn’t be fair to me. It’s important to keep a strong sense of yourself when you’re a mom. You’re still you.”
I still love her music.
Kelis releases new song ‘Acapella’ (audio)
by Roberta Ferguson on Dec.04, 2009, under articles
Kelis has just released her new song, “Acapella” and you can listen to it here at Earsucker!
This is something different than what we would’ve expected from Kelis. This song really shows off her musical talents. The song is decent, yet I’m not sure she would be able to bump acts like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears from the pop/dance genre.

Alicia Keys’ new album is about overcoming depression
by Roberta Ferguson on Dec.02, 2009, under articles
Alicia Keys is about to release her newest album, “The Element Of Freedom” on December 15th, and the singer has revealed that the album is about overcoming depression.
She revealed that she almost gave up on music when her grandmother passed away in 2006, but has channeled all of those emotions into her new album.
She said, “I found more freedom. Before, I thought I could only show the strong side of me. Now there’s a mixture of strong and delicate. A new sound, a new emotion. That’s a lot of who I am right now. In the past, I was locking myself in the studio because I thought it was the only way to create music. This was a more casual way to do it. The tour will take me all over the world for a year and I can’t wait to play these songs.”
She further explained, “With the last album, I was really trying to find myself and I was feeling extremely overworked. I was also starting to understand that I was dealing with certain people in business that were not really for me and they all had their intentions and thoughts. I was snappy, I was nasty, I was mean, losing my grandmother during that time as well. Everything felt like it could all just tumble down at once.”
Wherever her artistic visions take her, I’m sure we are going to love it. She’s an amazing singer and it’s good to hear her overcoming the sadness to rise above all of the negativity.
Earsucker.com reviews Puddle Of Mudd’s ‘Volume 4: Songs In The Key Of Love And Hate’
by Roberta Ferguson on Nov.30, 2009, under articles
Puddle Of Mudd is releasing their newest album, “Volume 4: Songs In The Key Of Love And Hate” on December 8, 2009 and we were just privvy to hearing the entire album.
The album starts out with the upbeat “Spaceship” and I can see how this song would catch on. It’s hip and I love the riffs, and it has a rockin’ groove to it.
The second song, “Keep It Together” is a bit slower, sort of a ballad-type track. This song reminds me of their more popular hit, “Blurry”. This song will definitely see some radio airplay. I’m loving it. The song really showcases the talent of Wes Scantlin that we’ve come to know and love. (continue reading…)
Jennifer Lopez releasess ‘Louboutins’ cover art
by Roberta Ferguson on Nov.27, 2009, under articles
Jennifer Lopez’s new song, “Louboutins” has just been marked as the first single coming from her next album, “Love?”
Earsucker debuted the leaked version of the song on November 20th, here.
This song is a stinker, and so is the cover art. Sorry Lola, but this just isn’t working out for us. Maybe next time? It’s not you, it’s me. No, really it IS you. My bad.
Rihanna changed her album title
by Roberta Ferguson on Nov.25, 2009, under articles
Rihanna had to change the title of her latest album, after getting some flack due to her choice.
The singer dropped her latest album, “Rated R”, on November 23rd and has revealed that the name wasn’t her first choice. She said, “I actually wanted to name my album, ‘Such A F***ing Lady’, but a couple of stores, a couple of major outlets didn’t allow that…That was the title for a while, but ‘Rated R’ made more sense because of the overall story. It’s a movie really, the album. But ‘Such A F***ing Lady’ – we take everything back to that – especially in our style.”
I can’t imagine Best Buy or Walmart buying that up in droves with that title, even if it’s more fitting as to her vision for the album. Having said that, I must say that I loathe censorship. She should have been able to keep her original album title, with no quips from the little guys.

Heidi Montag is a ‘superficial’ space cadet
by Roberta Ferguson on Nov.24, 2009, under articles
Heidi Montag has just unveiled her official album cover for her debut album, “Superficial”. I can guarantee you this, the entire album is full of FAIL.
Montag said about her album cover, which features cassette tapes, “This cover is a shout out to the ’80s. It makes you remember when you just had to run out to the record store and get your favorite album. You dreamt of those tapes.”
I can’t imagine that she would know too much about that decade, considering that she was born in 1986, but whatever. If you want to murder your eardrums, you can listen to her first single at People.com.
So awful. I bet she doesn’t sell but a few copies, if that. This crap drops on January 12th….hold me back!
Chris Brown dropped from Timbaland’s song ‘The One I Love’
by Roberta Ferguson on Nov.23, 2009, under articles
Timbaland has just dropped Chris Brown from his song “The One I Love” due to all of the drama surrounding Chris’ antics.
A source said that the axing was a “creative decision for both parties. They even offered up a sincere “There’s nothing against Chris. We love Chris.” Sure you do, but you don’t want that maniac on your album, do you?
The song’s original was just that, “Maniac”, but the title was scrapped due to Chris’ part in it. It was changed because people thought it wouldn’t have been a good career move to associate the two.
Both Chris’ and Timbaland’s albums drop on December 8, 2009. Coincidence?
I bet that burns a little!
