Earsucker reviews OneRepublic’s ‘Waking Up’
by Roberta Ferguson on Nov.11, 2009, under articles
We have been privileged to get a review copy of OneRepublic’s “Waking Up” prior to its release date of November 17th.
The CD starts off slow, mellow, and groovy, making it a fairly easy listen. “Made For You” starts off the album with it’s melodic coolness and slow pop sounds.
Song two, “All The Right Moves” makes me think back to the eighties for some reason. It’s a great tune, and it’s just harmony in all of the right places. This has to be my favorite song from the album, thus far.
Song three, “Secrets”, starts off slowly, but builds up to a sweet ballad of beauty. Followed by “Everybody Loves Me”, which was released digitally on October 20th. This is a good pop/folk-sounding song. It’s got a groove that makes you want to move around. (continue reading…)
iTunes Didn’t Expect Kris Allen To Win American Idol?
by Roberta Ferguson on May.21, 2009, under articles
Apparently iTunes had Adam Lambert in mind when writing about the American Idol crown. Well, they got his picture right, and his name…hmmm…maybe not so much.

The text reads:
Somewhere between Kris Allen’s knockout performance of Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” and his rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), it was pretty obvious we work looking at the work of an American Idol. The way he carried himself through these tunes did the songs justice and showed that Allen has serious musical chops (whether at the guitar or the piano) — he also proved that he has that all-important mystery factor that separates the talented singers from the luminaries. Consistently wowing judges and audiences with his understated style and searing renditions of tracks by Bill Withers, Kanye West, and OneRepublic, Lambert ascended through the ranks and took the top spot. He’s the Idol of today and the superstar of tomorrow — congratulations Kris Allen!
