Pearl Jam performed on “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” for his very first episode on Monday, June 1, 2009.

The band delivered a rocking performance of their new song “Get Some”, in promotion of their upcoming album, “The Backspacer”. The new album is slated for a tentative release date of September 22, 2009.

O’Brien said that one of the things that sustained him for three months was knowing that at the end of their first show, was knowing he’d get to watch a performance by one of the greatest rock bands in the world.

He said, “I am thrilled and honored, they are here with their world premiere of a song from their forthcoming album, “Backspacer”, ladies and gentlemen, Pearl Jam!”

Pearl Jam’s bass player, Jeff Ament was arriving at the studio in his SUV when three guys jumped out of the bushes and busted his windows. Jeff tried to run, but was caught by one of the guys who hit him in the head and left him with a gash.

The thieves made off with $3,000 in cash in addition to $4,000 in computers and equipment. This is just awful and we can only hope that the thieves can be identified and brought to justice.
