According to Mistress Juliya on Twitter, Peter Steele, frontman for Type O Negative, has passed away.

She said, “Today is a very sad day in metal…End of an era. Peter Steele passed today. I loved my friend…our idol…my heart is with his band and family… @msjenncity he passed of heart failure today. Just spoke to Kenny.”

His Wikipedia has been updated to reflect his passing on April 14, 2010. We hope this is not true. We’ll keep our ear to the ground for any updates. (Update: It has since been updated to show no death date)

RIP Pete.

Update: FullMetalJackie is saying that the news has been confirmed. RIP.

This is Type O Negative doing “September Sun”. I’m not caring for the facial hair on Peter Steele, but what can you do? I mean, besides attack him with a razor?!!?
