Radiohead plans to release an album in 2010

by on Jun.21, 2010, under articles

Despite saying that they had no plans to release an album this year, Radiohead has decided to do just that.

Contact Music reports:

In a new interview, guitarist Ed O’Brien said, “We’re in the heart of the record. It’s genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been. Ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We’re at the finishing line. When you’re making a record, a film, writing a book for ages and ages, you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it’s in touching distance. But of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there, it might slow down. But yeah, hopefully it will be a matter of weeks.”

Will you buy their upcoming album? I will if they do it like they did In Rainbows.

Thom Yorke eyes music industry failure

by on Jun.09, 2010, under articles

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke knew what was coming when the internet met the music industry. Of course the business is going to go south, with internet file sharing at an all time high and people stealing and leaking music, it just makes better sense to give it away.

Thom has issued a warning to new talent: Don’t go the traditional route of signing with a record company. It makes sense, considering everyone and their uncle can have a website up within a day, showcasing their music to the masses. It makes even less sense to sign a record deal if you are already a big named star, unless it really is that important that you have only blue M&Ms in your tour rider.

Thom said, “It will be only a matter of time – months rather than years – before the music business establishment completely folds. (It will be) no great loss to the world.”

He’s so right, it won’t be a big loss whatsoever. Music should always remain in the hands of the creators, not the ones with the deepest pockets.

Jamie Foxx Trashes Miley Cyrus (Audio NSFW)

by on Apr.13, 2009, under articles

Jamie Foxx was on doing his Sirius radio show, “The Foxxhole” where he trashed teen queen Miley Cyrus.

The audio for this is very NSFW, due to the language used. Turn your speakers down if you’re still at work or put on some headphones.

He digs on Miley for acting like a diva when she wanted to meet Radiohead.

He can be heard saying, “Make a sex tape and grow up… Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin… be like Lindsay Lohan and get some crack in your pipe… Catch chlamydia on a bicycle seat.”

Snap! The ball’s in your court, Miley!

New Music: Video – Radiohead – Reckoner

by on Oct.02, 2008, under articles

This is a very interesting video for Reckoner by Radiohead. It was made by Clement Picon for the Aniboom contest for the song.

I do have to say that I’m not a big fan of the song, but the video looks cool.

What do you think? Are you a Radiohead fan?

Radiohead to Prince: Unblock Creep on YouTube

Fans all over the place (me included) rushed to YouTube to listen to Prince perform his version of the Radiohead hit Creep at Coachella. I got to listen to it once. And when I posted the video, it was yanked. Thanks a lot Prince!

Well, it looks like I’m not the only one that’s a little peeved. Radiohead is now speaking up saying that Prince doesn’t have the right to block their song, even though it’s him singing it.

It’s not a copyright violation because the song doesn’t belong to Prince, so how does he have the right to have it pulled?

It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Radiohead avoided album leak by labelling it as Phil Collins

by on Dec.10, 2007, under articles

Now this is some funny crap. How do you keep people from leaking your album online prior to its release date? You label is as crap you don’t think people will listen to….that’s how.

Radiohead labeled the In Rainbows music as Phil Collins Hip Hop Covers, Eagles: Greatest Hits, and Kula Shaker Demos. Too funny!! And genius!

What a risk! It sure paid off if you ask me.

With the official retail release of their In Rainbows coming on January 1st, the Oxford, UK band have also been keeping busy with their “Thumbs Down Webcast” as of late.

Thom Yorke said of the episodes, “This is Thumbs Down cause it’s … [holds thumbs down]… We’re gonna play some music as we can still stand up. This is our way of celebrating the fact that we’ve finished a record.

We’ve been doing some stupid stuff the past few weeks knocking some things together. Don’t expect any high quality cause there isn’t any.” The band can be seen performing the first single from the album, “Bodysnatchers,” and another stand out track, “Jigsaw Falling Into Place,” below.

“What Radiohead did with their album was a genius idea. I’m gonna pay $50 for it.” Rapper Jay-Z is one of thousands of Radiohead fans choosing the price they pay for the band’s new album, In Rainbows.

Nice! People should have came out and paid more for the album. Go Jay-Z!

60% who bought In Rainbows, paid nothing

by on Nov.07, 2007, under articles

Looking at the bigger picture, that’s a devastating number. I would have placed a minimal donation of a dollar or two, at least.

Radiohead’s innovative internet-only release of their seventh album In Rainbows may have proved a financial disaster, according to new figures.

Internet research group ComScore found that more than 60 per cent of fans given the choice to pay whatever they liked for the album chose to pay nothing at all.

The band’s decision to release the album for download, with fans able to specify the price they were willing to pay, was viewed as a brave attempt to redress the damaging effects of digital music piracy.
