Were People Afraid To Have A Gay American Idol Winner?
by roberta on May.20, 2009, under articles
With all of the fuss surrounding the season finale of “American Idol”, it seemed that Adam Lambert was a total shoe-in for the crown.

He had/has fans left and right, people were cheering for him in droves. They just KNEW he was going to win it all tonight. He even had Katy Perry showing her bias for him on the show, by wearing her faux Elvis outfit with his name emblazoned on the back.
After it’s all said and done, Kris Allen is the winner of the show. But why? Was it that he had the better talent? Was it that he did THE BEST job of the entire series?
Even Simon Cowell commented recently that the Idol finale should consist of Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert primarily because Kris couldn’t compete with the likes of Adam.
Anyone I’ve talked to said that Adam was in a class all of his own. He was the winner, in everybody’s minds before the finale even aired. My question is, was Adam not chosen because he’s gay? I only ask that because I really can’t think of another reason why he would’ve been passed over for the crown. It surely wasn’t because he’s not good enough. To say that people are in shock over the results of the show would be an understatement.
What do you think?
On a side note, I think both of the guys did an excellent job on the show. This is basically just for discussion as to your opinions on what happened on tonight’s show.

Kara DioGuardi Only On ‘American Idol’ For One Season?
by roberta on May.01, 2009, under articles
Kara DioGuardi, the fourth judge on American Idol, says that she’s not sure whether or not she’ll be back for another season of the show.

She says, “I’m only here for one season. That’s what we’ve discussed. So we’ll see what happens. Hopefully, they’ll keep me on.”
First, it was rumored that Paula Abdul would be the one leaving the show. Prior to that, Kara was noted as being the feisty judge, talking smack about Bikini Girl, Katrina Darrell and calling Simon Cowell out for not letting her speak.
Cowell commented this on whether or not DioGuardi would return, “I would imagine so, but the only say I have is about Ryan, Randy and Paula. I’ve always made it clear that I wouldn’t like to do the show without them. So that’s all I’m really concerned about.”
Either way, she says it’s all good:
“My life has become extremely exciting and I am so excited for this opportunity,” she says. “I feel grateful to America that they let me grow and they let me find my groove on the show and that they were patient. And hopefully I haven’t disappointed them. It’s been a scary experience at times.”
Think she should stay or should they let her go?
At least she’ll always have work.

Hollie Steel Performs ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’ On ‘Britain’s Got Talent’
by roberta on Apr.27, 2009, under articles
Ten-year-old ballerina and promising singer, Hollie Steel, performed “I Could’ve Danced All Night” on the third episode of “Britain’s Got Talent” on April 25, 2009.
All of the judges had nothing but nice things to say, except for Simon not liking her ballerina outfit.
Think she’ll be some stiff competition for Susan Boyle?
Simon Cowell Tells Susan Boyle Not To Be A Gimmick
by roberta on Apr.27, 2009, under articles
“American Idol” and “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell has told Susan Boyle that she should not become a gimmick, so that people won’t see her and ignore the talent she possesses.

Boyle became an overnight sensation, despite her frumpy appearance. What worries Cowell the most is that since becoming a household name, the press might only report the dirty gossip on the singer.
He says, “The problem is with all the substories about the cat and how she looks. I’m tired of hearing about the way she looks or the kissing, or this or that. Susan mustn’t become a gimmick.”
She’s no gimmick and the lady can sing, but there have been people digging on her because of how she changed her looks. I know that we all fell in love with her voice and the image she represented, but a woman’s got to take care of herself.
So what if she changed her clothes and dyed her hair? The talent is still there.

Shaheen Jafargholi Performs ‘Who’s Loving You’ on Britain’s Got Talent
by roberta on Apr.21, 2009, under articles
Youngster Shaheen Jafargholi performed “Valerie” by The Zutons on “Britain’s Got Talent“, which really didn’t please Simon Cowell. He stopped the performance and asked Jafargholi and asked what else he could sing.
So he belted out “Who’s Loving You” by Michael Jackson and received a standing ovation from the crowd. Cowell commented that this one song “could change your life and this may be the start of something special.”
Think he’ll give Susan Boyle a run for her money?

Adam Lambert Murders Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring Of Fire’ – Video
by roberta on Mar.18, 2009, under articles
Jesus, while I’m no fan of country music, I can say with all certainty that Adam Lambert beat this song down until it wasn’t breathing any more.
He took on Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire” and murdered it.
Kara said the performance was “weird” and Paula ate it up. What’s she on?
Thank you Simon for saying what needed to be said, “Indulgent rubbish.” And did you see Ryan Seacrest motioning a nod from Randy Travis?
Bikini Girl Katrina Darrell VS. Kara DioGuardi Round Two
by roberta on Feb.04, 2009, under articles
Katrina Darrell was pushed forward to Hollywood Week on American Idol because the guys were so infatuated with her “attire” at her audition. At Hollywood Week, she sang “Breathe” by Faith Hill.
It looked like new judge Kara DioGuardi was going to say something nice about her singing, but then it just went downhill from there.
How does this girl keep getting pushed through to each round? She doesn’t sound all that bad, but she’s picking the worst songs to sing for the type of voice she has.
Hopefully soon enough, we’ll be able to move this girl to the American Idol Rejects category of the site, it’ll be her new home. Bo Bice and Danny Noriega will keep her in good company.
Update: Katrina Darrell got the boot when it came to the group round. (I’ll start watching when it gets good, I promise.)
Casey Carlsen’s American Idol Audition
by roberta on Jan.18, 2009, under articles
Not sure how I missed Casey Carlsen’s audition on American Idol, on the 14th. (Editor’s Note: I didn’t watch the show, that could be why.) It was great, she did a fantastic job at singing Vanessa Carton’s song. Very nice.
All the judges were in agreement to send Casey on through to Hollywood. Think she did better than bikini girl? I do. She looks a little like Katherine McPhee, doesn’t she?
Think she’ll go far?
Bikini Girl Katrina Darrell Auditions For American Idol
by roberta on Jan.14, 2009, under articles
This was too funny. I didn’t watch American Idol yesterday (or any other day really), but this girl, Katrina Darrell, auditioned in a bikini. She started busting out with “Vision of Love” by Mariah Carey and just about murdered it.
Simon quickly said yes to her and Randy soon followed. New judge Kara DioGuardi didn’t have anything nice to say, which means she’s my second favorite judge already. Kara started singing the song and told Katrina that she doesn’t have the chops to sing a song like that. Honesty, finally!
Maybe they brought in Kara so that Simon wouldn’t always look like the bad guy. Anyways, even though this girl wasn’t that good of a singer, she got through to Hollywood, thanks to Paula Abdul. Even though she said later that the girl was terrible, she put her through. Kara said, “Next time come naked.” Loved it. Oh how I’ve missed the American Idol auditions.
Thanks Marie!
