After getting a ton of flak for singing over a pre-recorded version of the National Anthem for President Obama’s inauguration, Beyonce wanted to let everyone know that it wasn’t for a lack of talent. As you’ll recall, Beyonce stunned the crowd in attendance for the inaugural ceremony, but later received a backlash of negativity after it was found that she didn’t actually sing live.
So to prove her point that she does have talent, Beyonce held a press conference ahead of her Super Bowl half-time show. She sang a phenomenal live rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”, thus silencing her detractors once and for all. You can watch the video of her performance below:
From the AP’s video description:
Beyonce opened her press conference in New Orleans with a live rendition of the national anthem. The singer, who’s performing at the Super Bowl, admitted that she did lip sync on Inauguration Day.
She proudly ended her performance asking all in attendance, “Any questions?” What did you think of her pre-recorded Inaugural performance? Do you think that her performance at this press conference makes up for the fact that she opted not to sing live for the President on the day of his Inauguration? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below.
Fans of Beyonce will be happy to learn that she is gearing up to headline the half-time show at the 2013 Super Bowl. The official announcement was made on Tuesday with the singer confirming the reports on her official website.
On her site, she posted a big photo of herself under a headline that read “Countdown to Touchdown” with the game date under her eyes in football eye makeup. Super Bowl XLVII airs on February 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
Previously, Beyonce has performed the national anthem at her hometown in Houston, Texas in 2004. Rumor has it that Beyonce may be joined on stage by a special surprise guest. Could it be her husband Jay-Z? How about the former members of Destiny’s Child? Now that would make for an awesome reunion, don’t you think?
This year’s half-time show was performed by Madonna where she scored over 114 million viewers. How many do you think will be tuning in for Beyonce’s performance?
Madonna performed her butt off at the 2012 Super Bowl half-time show. If you blinked, then you likely missed M.I.A. giving the audience and the cameras the middle finger.
Now, the Queen of Pop is responding to the gesture, calling it childish and stupid. During a call in to On Air With Ryan Seacrest, Madge said, “I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it.”
She went on to say, “I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager…irrelevant thing to do…there was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point? It was just out of place.”
Did you find the incident rather juvenile? Or do you think that M.I.A. can do whatever she pleases when she has a camera pointed at her? Did it ruin the half-time show for you? Or did you even notice the bird flipping incident?
Madonna kicked so much butt last night at her Super Bowl half-time performance. She sang a lot of her old hits and even mixed in her newest song, Give Me All Your Luvin’. In case you’ve missed it, you can watch the full video here.
The show was made that much better with the additions of Cee Lo Green, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Well maybe not M.I.A., considering she’s got everyone’s panties in a bunch over her middle finger incident. But still, you can’t deny the fact that Madonna proved that she’s still worth whatever fans are shelling out for her shows. Her performance was grandiose, well executed and went on without a hitch. (Except for an almost stumble, but you try to walk on some bleachers in those boots.)
Elton John previously said on Good Morning America that Madonna would likely not be singing live, telling her to “lip sync good”. Still, even though she may have been lip-syncing, she still rocked the show. We would invite you to try and do better, at her age.
Do you care if she was lip-syncing during her performance? Or were you just sitting back and enjoying the show?
