Christine Bleakley To Replace Steve Jones On The X Factor USA?

Christine Bleakley To Replace Steve Jones On The X Factor USA?

Christine Bleakley is said to be replacing The X Factor USA host, Steve Jones. This is not good news, people. We like Steve. We’ve been on the Steve Jones bandwagon ever since his fine self graced the stage and basically told Paula Abdul to STFU.

It’s been already rumored that Steve was fired from the show after hosting only one season, but he has responded to the reports, saying that he would like to come back for season two.

Simon Cowell has reportedly already sought out Steve’s replacement and found it in former Daybreak host Christine Bleakley. She’s in the process of considering a move to the U.S. for the show.

A source revealed, “She gets on very well with Simon and he’s always maintained at some point they will work together. After Dancing On Ice is done and dusted by the spring, there’s nothing keeping her in the U.K. if she wanted to move abroad. The Americans love an Irish presenter and Christine has potential to work very well in the U.S.”

Listen up, Simon. Keep Steve. You want the female audience in the States, don’t you? Do we have to start a petition?

Vanessa Lachey Auditioned For The X Factor USA Hosting Job

Little did we all know, but Nick Lachey’s wife Vanessa tried out for the hosting gig on season one of The X Factor USA!

The job went to Welsh presenter Steve Jones, but after learning that he might be fired, we’ve found that she actually wanted the job in the first place.

She said, “They went with a British guy. You can’t get more polar opposite, so I am okay with that. Now if the host was a brunette girl in her early thirties, I would be like ‘Wait a minute!’”

Rumors were floating around before the show started that they actually had Nicole Scherzinger hosting, with Cheryl Cole judging. But, the show opted to send Cheryl packing, keep Nicole and make her a judge and get Steve to host.

Do you think Vanessa Lachey would have made a better X Factor host than Steve Jones? Sound off in the comments below and let us know your thoughts! Who do you want to see hosting season two of the show? Would you like to see Steve make a return to the show? Or do you want to see someone new?

Simon Cowell Talks 2012 Season 2 Of The X Factor USA

After Melanie Amaro was crowned the first winner of The X Factor USA, Simon Cowell and company are gearing up for some changes to the show for season two.

The show has already started auditions for the next season, but Simon wants us all to know that we should be ready for some changes. In a new interview, he said, “Can we make the show better? Yes. I will never ever go into anything going forward unless I can believe I can make it better. Next year will be a bloodbath. We have to come out with something better than the rest, and that’s what we aim to do.”

Paula Abdul said, “It’ll be successful if you are open to tweaking things. I understand pros and cons of the value of having these big production numbers, but…I am a fan of less is more.”

It appears that all of the judges are up for the next go around, except for maybe Nicole Scherzinger. She said that the show took a lot out of her, adding, “I’m an artist first, not a judge. At the beginning of next year, I’m focusing on my album and going on tour in Europe.”

Do you want Nicole Scherzinger to return as a judge on The X Factor USA? Will you be watching season two of the show? Sound off in the comments!

Steve Jones Talks About Hosting The X Factor USA

Steve Jones Talks About Hosting The X Factor USA

We are unsure as to whether or not Steve Jones will be hosting the second season of The X Factor USA, but he talked about what a ride it was for the first season of the talent competition.

When speaking of his job as host of the show, he said, “I was overwhelmed with excitement about doing the job. But I’ll be honest, I’ve been taken aback. It’s been a lot more pressure than I expected, a lot more emotional. I’ve been critiqued to hell and back throughout the press and throughout the entire process of people watching it.”

He revealed, “Maybe I was a little naive; I wasn’t expecting it to be so black-and-white. Half the people hate what I’m doing and half the people love what I’m doing. I suppose that’s kind of what you want. But I wanna be liked by people, so it can be a little bit upsetting when people say hurtful things. If you can’t handle it, go home and hide under your bed.”

He said, “I can’t even expect to see myself on the show just yet. I haven’t had that conversation. Hopefully I’m involved in the second season! I’ve had a whale of a time doing the first season. But I’m sure we’ll look at the first season as a gigantic pilot that’ll become more refined. We’ll know exactly what we want to get across in the second season, we’ll go in there with a clear view of what we need to do.”

What do you think? Should Simon Cowell sign Steve Jones on for the second season of The X Factor USA?

The X Factor USA Winner Melanie Amaro Sang To Save Her Family

by on Dec.26, 2011, under articles

The X Factor USA Winner Melanie Amaro Sang To Save Her Family

The winner of The X Factor USA’s first season, Melanie Amaro, said that she sang her heart out on the show so that she could save her family — financially.

Her father said prior to the show’s finale, “It’s really important for our entire family that Melanie wins The X Factor – it would not only change her life, but ours as well. Of course, she can do whatever she wants with her winnings, but we’re confident she’ll do the right thing and help us out.”

He went on to say, “In 2009, I lost my job as a property management maintenance worker after the company I worked for was sold. Bills were piling up higher than the palm trees outside our house. My wife was working, but she was bringing in just enough to put food on our table.”

Melanie’s mother said, “We live paycheck to paycheck, but we always manage to make it.”

She also revealed that even before Melanie was born, she knew she was going to be a singer. She said that a preacher told her of her daughter’s gift. She added, “He told me that God had put a song in my baby’s heart, that she was always going to be singing. And he was right!”

We’re glad he was right. Melanie has the gift of song and has shown the world her amazing talent.

The X Factor USA Results Season Finale Recap - Who Won? 12/22/11

It’s the final showdown on The X Factor USA stage tonight! With three remaining contestants, only one can walk away with the X Factor crown — and the five million dollar recording contract. In case you’ve missed last night’s performance episode of the show, you can read that here or check out all of the performance videos here.

The three remaining contenders for the title of champion are Josh Krajcik, Chris Rene and Melanie Amaro. They performed their hearts out during their duets and single performances last night. Of course, each of the mentors think their contestant should win, so naturally it was up to America to vote their conscious.

We conducted a poll yesterday to see who America thought should win the show — and it was pretty obvious that viewers felt that Melanie should win, followed by Josh and Chris.

Still, it’s up in the air as to who will win the competition and who will be sent home empty-handed. Join us here at Earsucker for the X Factor USA live-blog, live at 8PM EST. Who’s got the X FACTOR?

SHOWTIME!

RECAP:

Did Steve Jones just introduce the judges with Europe’s The Final Countdown?!? Ha.

Steve just welcomed the final twelve back to the stage. They’re singing Lady Gaga’s Edge Of Glory and most of them are butchering it. We still miss LeRoy Bell!

Melanie Amaro is taking the stage to perform All I Want For Christmas. PERFECTION!

They are getting ready to reveal the act that came in third place, after the break. LIES!! They’re introducing Chris Rene to sing a holiday song, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Meh.

Josh Krajcik took the stage after Steve hit on Nicole Scherzinger in an attempt to get an invitation to her house for Christmas. Josh is singing Bells Will Be Ringing.

Justin Bieber is singing and it appears that he is being auto-tuned something awful. Stevie Wonder joined him on piano! Love us some Stevie!

As of now, Steve has told us twice that we will get the first results after the break. Stop killing us with the anticipation, dude.

Third place goes to Chris Rene! It’s down to Josh and Melanie! Who’s going to win?!??

Leona Lewis is performing her new song, Run. I love her dress tonight, she looks great! Her voice sounds drowned out a bit. And Rachel Crow introduced her! Rachel says she’s after Steve’s hosting job. How cute.

50 Cent is performing! What a cool performance and set. Nice. What was even better is that he was joined on stage by Astro!

Ne-Yo and Pitbull are performing now and it’s an insane light show. Afterward, Josh and Melanie are doing a duet! They sound phenomenal together.

WHO WON THE X FACTOR? Melanie Amaro!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The X Factor USA Performance Finale Review

The X Factor USA Finale Performance Review

On last night’s performance episode of The X Factor USA, the three remaining contestants sang for their supper with three special guests. If you’ve missed the show, we live-blogged it here, along with the videos here.

Josh Krajcik kicked things off by singing Alanis Morrissette’s song, Uninvited. It was a very strong performance for Josh. Very well done.

Afterward, Chris Rene belted out a version of Complicated and was later joined by Avril Lavigne. We felt that the song lacked a lot and was definitely not his best performance.

Lastly for the first round, Melanie Amaro got stuck with R. Kelly and his song, I Believe I Can Fly. Even though the guest performer and the song choice weren’t my favorite, she still found a way to make it work. Good for her.

Round one rankings:
Melanie Amaro
Josh Krajcik
Chris Rene

For round two, Josh busted out some Krajcik Magic with Etta James’ song, At Last. I couldn’t forget how much Josh won us all over when he first sang that song on the show.

Afterward, Chris sang his own original song, Young Homie. This is the originality that we’ve grown to love from Chris. He’s got something special about his singing talent and the heart that he puts into songs.

Lastly, Melanie sang Beyonce’s song, Listen. She’s got the type of voice that can basically sing anything — even some 800 year-old song by R. Kelly. This girl has some pipes — along with a serious shot at winning the top prize.

Round two rankings:
Chris Rene
Melanie Amaro
Josh Krajcik

Yesterday, we also took a poll of our readers to see who you thought would win the competition. We’ve received over 10,000 responses! [Thanks everyone, keep the votes coming!] Forty-four percent of voters felt that Melanie will win the X Factor crown, with Josh right behind her and Chris cleaning up last place.

Stay tuned to Earsucker.com, where you will find out who wins the show first! [Read: We update constantly.]

The X Factor USA Final 3 Performance Recap 12/21/11

It has all come down to this! It’s the season finale performance episode of The X Factor USA. There isn’t anymore waiting, America….tonight, we’ll get to see which contestant really brings it on the show. Are you excited? We are!

After last week’s not-so-shocking elimination of three-time bottom two champion, Marcus Canty, we’re left with Josh Krajcik, Melanie Amaro and Chris Rene. The final three competitors are all vying for the X Factor crown and its top prize: a recording contract worth five million dollars.

It’s really hard to say who’s going to walk away a champion tomorrow, but we’re down for some speculation. We’re really fans of all three of the finalists on the show, but Melanie stands out with her range. On that note, Josh does have the ability to really sing just about anything, as well.

We could have predicted that they would have made it this far. Chris, however, while talented, does not possess the same pizazz as Josh and Melanie. Having said that, he has taken some risks with his song choices and has come out on top.

So it’s anyone’s game at this point. Stay tuned right here to Earsucker.com, as we’ll be live-blogging the show with up-to-the-minute coverage at 8PM EST!

Update: We will be updating this post with all of the performance videos from tonight’s show. Stay tuned, it’s almost show time!

RECAP:

ROUND ONE

Josh Krajcik is up first, singing Alanis Morrissette’s hit song, Uninvited. OMG, she’s joining him on stage! I love this song! What a great duet!

Chris Rene is up next, doing Avril Lavigne’s song, Complicated. It’s not that great of a cover. Avril took the stage and joined him for the duet. It seems that she changed her key to suit his singing style. Were you feeling that duet?

Melanie Amaro is singing R. Kelly’s I Believe I Can Fly. She is genuinely talented! You go girl! She is joined on stage by R. Kelly for a fantastic duet.

ROUND TWO

Josh Krajcik is up first, singing the song that made him a household name in America…Etta James’ At Last. What a touching performance! Kudos to Josh!

Chris Rene is singing next, doing his own original song, Young Homie. Paula gushed about the song, saying that’s why she fell in love with him. Simon called that Chris’ five million dollar song. It was alright, not too shabby.

Melanie Amaro is last, singing Listen by Beyonce. She’s killing it. She really does have an amazing voice. Get that five million dollars, girl!

Simon Cowell Admits To The X Factor USA Mistakes

Music mogul Simon Cowell has admitted that he has made some mistakes with The X Factor USA. He revealed that he was a bit cocky about the launch of the show here in the States. He also made a prediction that the show would get twenty million viewers.

In a new interview, he said, “I’m cocky by nature. But I’d come off a massive final in the U.K., I had adrenaline, I couldn’t wait to put the show on here and it’s gonna take a little bit longer than I thought.”

He’s still rooting for his remaining contestant, Melanie Amaro, but said that he made some bad song choices during the show. He said, “I learned that I’m not American – that was a big factor of where I got things right and where I got things wrong.”

When speaking about Melanie’s final song, he added, “The song was too British and too old for her — I’m trying to think American.”

Steve Jones To Be Fired From The X Factor USA?

Steve Jones To Be Fired From The X Factor USA?

Rumor has it that Steve Jones might just be hosting The X Factor USA for only one season! Oh noes! We’re fans of Steve at the Earsucker headquarters, so we don’t like the thought of them replacing him. Ugh.

The first season of the show ends on Thursday, when America crowns its first X Factor champion and winner of a five million dollar recording contract. According to a source close to the situation, Steve has been fired from the show.

An insider said that only a miracle would keep Steve on the show and he’s said to be devastated over the decision. A source said, “Steve keeps saying that living in L.A. is a dream come true. He loves the weather and the women, and he loves working on X Factor – it’s just a shame that the U.S. public has not warmed to him. He got terrible reviews from critics when he started and things haven’t go better. There have been mistakes and he just doesn’t seem to have the knack for dealing with contestants.”

The source said, “The executives at Fox have already decided not to renew his contract and so, short of a miracle happening, it is pretty much a done deal that he will not take part next season.”

But — there is still hope! An X Factor spokesperson said, “No discussions have been had and no decisions will be made about any new contracts until the New Year.”

Of the rumors and speculation, Steve said, “You can’t second guess the Dark Lord, you really can’t! But, you know, I’m happy with the way I performed over the course of the series, and hopefully Simon Cowell is as well. It’s difficult to gauge Simon because he only ever approaches you and talks to you when you’ve done anything wrong.”

Marcus Canty Discusses His X Factor USA Elimination

If you’ve been watching the first season of The X Factor USA, then it didn’t really come as any surprise that Marcus Canty was eliminated on Thursday night’s results show.

He was in the bottom two for three weeks in a row and was eliminated via the public’s votes. After the elimination, he talked about the show and how relieved he was feeling.

He said, “I didn’t win it, but I feel like a million dollars right now. Honestly, I’ve been trying to keep it positive this whole time. But I’m going to keep it real – the pressure is off. I don’t have to sing no more save me’s. I don’t got to worry about America shooting me down. I ain’t got to worry about Simon giving me heat. I can just relax.”

He went on to discuss the snarky judge, saying, “Out in the back, Simon said, ‘Man, you’re amazing.’ He said, ‘What you’ve got to remember is the people that got you here – your fans.’ Simon is actually a nice guy. He tries to be crazy on TV, but he’s a puppy dog, man.”

When speaking of his mother, he said, “She’s so proud of me. She had my back one hundred percent. She was in the audience, just sitting there. She didn’t panic. I thought she was going to be crying, but she didn’t. She stayed strong. That made me happy.”

Of his future plans, he said, “I want to do everything – I want to be in movies, I want, I want to be on television, I want my own sitcom. I need a nice, subtle, beautiful chick flick. I’m trying to do whatever. I’m R&B, I’m going to stay R&B and I’m going to take it to the top.”

Would you watch a sitcom featuring Marcus Canty?

The X Factor USA Final 3 Finalists Revealed

On last night’s Semi-Finals, four became three on The X Factor USA stage. It all came down to America’s votes, with no final showdown for the judges. Is that so because Nicole Scherzinger might’ve voted to save Marcus Canty again?!? We are curious.

Still, it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility that Marcus could have stayed in favor of Chris Rene. However, it came down to the fact that Marcus had already been in the bottom two three times before. When it came between him and front-runner Josh Krajcik, there really wasn’t any competition.

WATCH:

Our remaining X Factor finalists are Chris Rene, Melanie Amaro and Josh Krajcik. We’ve been watching the show since its inception and were just so sure that Astro or Rachel Crow would be in the competition at the very end.

Next week’s Finale should prove to be very interesting as the final three take to the stage one last time to sing for that five million dollar recording contract. Who do you think has the X factor? Who can take home the top prize? Sound off in the comments below and let us know your thoughts!

X Factor USA's Rachel Crow Wants To Be Huge Like Justin Bieber

The X Factor USA’s most recent cast-off, Rachel Crow, has high aspirations for her career. After getting eliminated from the show, she has revealed that she wants the same success as teen singer Justin Bieber.

In a new interview with Kelly Ripa, she said, “I want to wind up being huge, like Justin Bieber huge!”

There were also a bunch of rumors floating around that Rachel had been approached by head honchos over at Disney, but she has dismissed them, saying that she hasn’t heard anything from them.

She also spoke of her shocking elimination from the show. She said, “Yes, very surprised. I’ve been walking around and people see me and say, ‘I’m so sorry you lost and got booted out.’ I’m like, ‘It’s okay!’”

We thought it was unfair that she got eliminated instead of Marcus Canty. She is a talented girl, she will definitely go far. But can she be as “huge” as Justin Bieber? What do you think?

As far as the bottom two are concerned, we would guess that it would be between Chris Rene and Marcus Canty. This is a familiar spot for Marcus, since he’s been there three times already. As his mentor, L.A. Reid kept mentioning, he’s the “Three song Save Me Champion”.

Yes, but can he pull it out of the air again? Will the judges grow a backbone and send the guy home already? Or will it be Chris Rene on the chopping block? Or — will we ALL be in for some craziness and watch as Josh Krajcik gets eliminated?

What do you think? Stay tuned, we’ll be live-blogging the show right here, when it starts — at 8PM EST!

The X Factor USA Top 4 Performance Review

by on Dec.15, 2011, under articles

The X Factor USA Top 4 Performance Review

On last night’s performance episode of The X Factor USA, the final four competitors sang for their lives. Each did two songs and killed it. But, alas, only three can go through to the Finals on the show. Here’s our take on what went down. In case you’ve missed the show, you can read our recap here, or check out all of the videos of each performance here.

People’s Choice Songs:

Marcus Canty did a nice version of Boyz II Men’s song, I’ll Make Love To You. It was on-key and the pitch was just right. This guy puts some real feeling into his songs.

Chris Rene performed Fly by Sugar Ray and it was so-so. He’s got talent, but this might not have been the best song for him. It sounded karaoke-ish to us.

Melanie Amaro killed her song choice, which was Mariah Carey’s Hero. Not a lot of people should and can cover Mariah. So this was a risk. A well-worth it risk, at that.

Josh Krajcik brought the house down with his cover of The Beatles’ song, Come Together. He’s got soul and he nailed this song perfectly.

Judge’s Choice Songs:

Marcus performed Careless Whisper by Wham and it was alright. Not that great for a song like this. We’ll see if he’s in the bottom two AGAIN.

Chris murdered Alicia Keys’ song, No One. Here’s another singer that not many can mimic. Chris proved that with this cover. Chris might just end up in the bottom two because of it.

Melanie nailed it again with her cover of Nina Simone’s Feelin’ Good. We love her voice and her range. This girl can sing anything. A definite winner.

Josh pulled a safe song out of his pocket and performed Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. Still, he’s going to be the guy to beat.

Whose performance was your favorite? Who are you rooting for? Stay tuned, tonight, we’ll be providing our live blog of the show, as it airs!

Marcus Canty Almost Quit After Rachel Crow Was Eliminated From The X Factor

Marcus Canty Almost Quit After Rachel Crow Was Eliminated From The X Factor

Last week, it was a contentious decision for Nicole Scherzinger to send the X Factor competition into a deadlock. In the end, it was Rachel Crow, who was eliminated from the show. Marcus Canty had been in the bottom two for three times, but the public voted for Marcus to stick around.

Now, he’s saying that he almost quit the show!

A source behind the scenes said, “Marcus was crying backstage. It took him a few hours to pull himself together. He felt so bad, his first reaction was to quit.”

Of the shocking elimination, he said, “I’ve got plenty of negative backlash. People saying, ‘Marcus go home.’ I’ve got called names.”

After being put up against Drew Ryniewicz on the previous week and Rachel this week, he said, “I knew people would say, ‘Marcus the baby-killer’, and I got the little girls crying. But people should be prepared for a heartbreak, cause everybody can’t win. If people wanted Rachel to go through, they should have voted for her.”

Now that he’s in the top four, he said that he’s not going to give up. He added, “I am a cat with nine lives. They try to get rid of me, but they can’t.”

Who do you think is going to win the competition? Stay tuned, we’ll be recapping the show live, as it airs tonight!

The X Factor USA Final 4 Discuss The Competition

by on Dec.13, 2011, under articles

The X Factor USA Final 4 Discuss The Competition

On this week’s elimination episode of The X Factor USA, the final four will become three. On December 22nd, the remaining three contestants will enter the finals so that we can all find out who the winner of the $5 million recording contract.

Before the competition, the four remaining competitors spoke about what they thought would help them win the top prize.

Josh Krajcik said, “I think I’m very unique when it comes to this competition. Not only am I the oldest, but I have the most experience. I’ve been writing songs my whole life. I play guitar. I play piano. I’m a singer/songwriter. I play rock. I can do country. I think I’m just versatile.”

Melanie Amaro said, “The Melanie thing is that, out of all of the contestants, you can give me anything, like anything! ‘Happy Birthday’ or ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’ and I would sing my heart out singing whatever you give to me. And I think that’s what I have over the competition. I think God has blessed me with this gift to be able to sing anything.”

Chris Rene said, “What I carry with me is diversity. What I carry with me is strength. What I carry with me is that I’m a champion, and I will succeed either way. And I just love being an original person, artist, and in all aspects of life I think that’s going to carry me far.”

Marcus Canty said, “I work really hard. I try so hard to give me all. I’m dancing. I’m moving. I’m singing. I’m trying to cover every aspect of the elements of me. Rachel Crow Consoled Nicole Scherzinger After X Factor USA Elimination

Since Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul received death threats over the elimination of Simon Cowell’s favorite competitor, Drew, on The X Factor USA, it appears that they are taking extra precautions to make sure that the same thing didn’t happen when favorite Rachel Crow was eliminated.

After the shocking elimination, Rachel went backstage to find a sobbing Nicole — and comforted her!

Rachel said, “Nicole’s amazing! I consoled her backstage, she was very sad. It was really hard to watch her. I hugged her and we sat for a long time and we talked and we made it all better.”

Rachel also praised her former mentor, Simon. She said, “I learned from Simon that no matter what happens it will all be okay. Life does go on and you either get bigger or smaller. He said, you always have to follow your dreams and be yourself and don’t let anyone change you.”

With all of the Disney talk surrounding the young star, she says that she has yet to sign any deal with them. She said, “I personally haven’t gotten any calls from Disney! I don’t know where that’s coming from. I really want to get a song or two our there and then maybe go there, movies and TV or something.”

As far as the future is concerned, she said she wants to collaborate with a mega-star, Eminem. She added, “Eminem’s just amazing and I want to sing with him very badly!”

Rachel Crow Responds To The X Factor USA Elimination

In a shocking elimination, Rachel Crow was cast off from The X Factor USA last night. It came down to between Rachel and Marcus Canty. It was familiar territory for Marcus, who was in the bottom two for the third time in a row. This was a first for Rachel, who has always performed way above par.

After their respective performances, Nicole Scherzinger made the decision to allow America to decide who was going home. In the end, Rachel had the lowest votes and was eliminated.

Simon Cowell wasn’t upset with Nicole’s decision, however. He said, “I know when someone’s doing something for the right reasons and I have to be fair like that. There were no games being played tonight. Because I thought we were so safe, I thought, that’s quite a nice gesture to do, to let Marcus go. I went to see her afterwards and this is all off-camera stuff. You know when someone’s lying. She was distraught.”

Rachel took to her Twitter account to discuss the elimination. She said, “Thank u so much to all of my fans I love you so much. I am sad tonight but I will bounce back and be fine tomorrow :) Please don’t be angry with @nicolesherzy she was put in such a tough position. I love u all so much.”

As far as who she’s throwing her support behind? She tweeted, “@MrChrisRene @TheXFactorUSA I miss u already too now go win this thing!!”

In the end, she tweeted, “I am so thankful to have such amazing fans thank u for sticking by me. I love u with all my heart.”

We’ll miss you on the show Rachel!

Alas, they performed their “Save Me” songs and put all they had into them. Marcus sang I’m Going Down first and he nailed it. Afterward, Rachel killed the Etta James classic, I’d Rather Go Blind.
