Taylor Swift is not a stranger to writing songs about her ex-boyfriends. Her latest track “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” was said to be written about her turbulent relationship with her former boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal, but neither has confirmed this.
The breakup anthem is aimed at one of her exes and of course the reasoning behind this is that she can torment the guy at will. She said that the song itself represents what she felt with her ex. She revealed in a new interview, “It’s a definitive portrait of how I felt when I finally stopped caring what my ex thought of me. He made mae feel like I wasn’t as good or as relevant as these hipster bands he listened to.”
She went on to say that she wanted to “drive him crazy” because of the fact that it was a good song and would be played on the radio so much that he would have no choice but to hear it. She said, “So I made a song that I knew would absolutely drive him crazy when he heard it on the radio. Not only would it hopefully be played a lot, so that he’d have to hear it, but it’s the opposite of the kind of music that he was trying to make me feel inferior to.”
When asked why she wrote the song, she joked, “Because that’s fun.”
Have you heard the song yet? What do you think of it? Are you a Taylor Swift fan?
