On ABC tonight is an all new episode of “The Bachelorette” 2012 starring Emily Maynard. Tonight the show embarks on the infamous hometown dates. Last week on the show, Emily said goodbye to Doug and John, narrowing the competition down to four competitors: Sean, Arie, Jef and Chris. In case you’ve missed the show, you can read our fully detailed recap here.
Tonight, we will see Emily going to each guy’s hometown to meet with their families. She will meet Arie’s family in Scottsdale, Arizona, Jef’s family in St. George, Utah, Sean’s family in Dallas, Texas and Chris’ family in Chicago, Illinois.
In Chicago, Emily and Chris visit the Wrigley Building, but not much is known about what happens afterward. In St. George, Utah, Emily meets up with Jef’s siblings, as his parents were not there. In Scottsdale, Arizona, Arie takes Emily for a go-kart ride and in Dallas, Texas, Emily and Sean had a family dinner.
Spoiler alert: We’ve learned that on tonight’s show, Emily eliminates Chris from the competition. This leaves Sean, Arie and Jef invited to the “romantic” overnight dates.
Stay tuned tonight at 8PM EST as we recap the show live with all of the latest up-to-the-minute details of what goes down on the hometown dates!
The show opens with Emily paying a visit to her daughter Ricki in their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. She talks in detail about what makes each of the guys special.
First up for their hometown date is Chris in Chicago. To begin, he brings her to a castle. She talks about feeling great learning that he’s falling in love with her. He’s anxious for her to see what his life is like. For lunch, he takes her to a Polish restaurant.
Chris apologizes to her for taking her aside at the last rose ceremony and “being a baby”. She likes that he can admit when he’s wrong and thinks he would make a great husband. He tells her that she is very similar to his sisters. Uh oh. If it goes well, Chris said that he would tell her that he loves her.
They walk into his family’s home and they are greeted by his entire family. Chris’ father John pulls Emily aside for a little chat. She asks John if Chris is ready to take on the responsibility of her daughter. His sister Renee asks, moving forward, if Chris isn’t the one, then to let him know sooner rather than later. Later, Emily meets back up with Chris and he tells her that she makes him feel really good. He tells her that after today, it’s easier for him to say that he is in love with her and that he loves her. Even later, his family has a dance planned for the both of them.
Next up, Emily goes to St. George, Utah to visit Jef and his family at “Holmstead Ranch”. He takes her clay shooting and tells her that this is a test and she better do well. After hitting all of the clay pigeons, she tells him that she takes shooting lessons back home. He tells her that his parents are in South Carolina doing charity work, so the meeting will be just between them and his siblings.
Emily says that Jef takes a lot of stock in how his family feels, so she’s nervous that something might go wrong. Jef’s brother Steve says that he’s nervous about Jef being a father really fast. He pulls Emily aside and they talk about her values. He asks what she feels it takes to stay in love. She says that it’s just knowing “this is it.” Afterward, Emily sits down with Jef’s sisters. She tells them that she’s worried that if they get together, Jef will realize that he doesn’t want to be a father or a husband. She tells them that she does feel as if she’s falling in love with Jef, even though she’s slow to admit that. Later, he reads her a letter that he’s written for her, telling her that he’s completely fallen in love with her. She tells him that the letter was the nicest thing that anyone has said to her. Aww.
Next, Emily goes to Scottsdale, Arizona to meet Arie’s family. He arrives in an Indie car. She says that he looks “stupid hot”. He takes her for a race around the track in the car. Afterward, they go for a picnic and he admits to being nervous about Emily meeting his European parents. He says that they have different values and opinions.
At his parents’ house, Emily meets his family. After they get settled in, Arie’s mother starts talking to him in Dutch. Awkward! Emily’s mother steals her away for a chat about Emily’s past on “The Bachelor” and wanted to know what happened there. His mother feels that Emily and Arie definitely share a connection. His parents approve of Emily and Arie tells his father that he feels he could propose to her right now.
Lastly, Emily goes to Dallas, Texas to meet up with Sean and his family. They share some quality alone time and he tells her about a previous serious relationship. They go to his parents’ house and he’s got a big family. He tells her that he still lives there with his parents. He was nervous about dropping that bomb on her, but is she really feeling it? And even worse, his room is a complete mess. He even goes as far as saying that he wishes his mother would’ve picked up a bit. Wow, what?!? Then, he tells her that it was a joke and he doesn’t actually live at home…Ha.
Sean’s father takes Emily aside and asks her about her connection to Sean. Later, after everything goes well, they share a kiss and she leaves. He says that he wants another kiss, so he chases down her SUV and gives her another kiss.
Back in Los Angeles, Emily and Chris have a chat about all of the hometown dates. She knows how each of the guys feel about her and says this is the hardest rose ceremony yet. She doesn’t know what she’s going to do.
Emily starts off by giving a rose to Arie and of course, he accepts. Next, she gives Jef a rose and he accepts. This leaves Sean and Chris…. Who’s getting the final rose on tonight’s show? Sean!
On tonight’s show, Chris has been eliminated from the competition. They go outside for a chat and he is looking for an explanation. She tells him on their first date, there was a strong connection, but her other relationships grew so much deeper. He’s upset because he has told her that he loves her. He leaves, telling her that he wouldn’t change anything.
