Auditions tonight are taking place in Greensboro, North Carolina. Willie Jones is taking the stage first, performing “Your Man” by Josh Turner. He’s not bad for a country artist as this was totally unexpected. L.A. said he is an absolute original and it was perfect. Britney said that she was surprised and it was very original of him to do what he just did. Demi said she liked that he is really likable. Simon said this is why he wanted to come to Greensboro and Will surprised him. He has a sensational recording voice and this is a day to remember. He’s going through to the next round, obviously.
Up next is Kalvin McManigal is up next and we can’t understand a word he’s saying. He’s singing some country-like song that we cannot understand whatsoever. This is a travesty and a waste of time. NEXT!
Next up is Julia Bullock and she’s singing “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster The People. We definitely like her version of the song, she’s got a great voice. Simon said she is really, really, really good. He likes her image, taste and looks very current. She’s one of his favorites. Britney said that she has a unique sound and she’s a star. L.A. said she is exactly what he’s been looking for and she’s got that rock star thing. Demi said she has a unique voice, is super talented and awesome. She’s through to the next round.
Singing next is Krysten Colon, singing “Don’t You Remember” by Adele. Simon said the Adele song is very “sound-alike” and they can’t hear the real her. She needs a classic song so that she could do her interpretation of it. He wants to see her later and that she needs melody.
Jeffrey Gutt is up next singing “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. His version of the song is a bit rock and the audience is cheering. Good for him! L.A. said he’s unbelievable and he is a fan. Britney said his voice is soothing and unique and she loved it. Demi said he changed the song completely and it was incredible. Simon said he’s heard the song a lot and it was the most brilliant auditions that he’s heard. It’s a yes from all four judges!
The lights went out during a terrible performance and Simon said it was a sign from above that he needs to leave. Byron Edwards performed a lackluster performance and was boo’ed. Jazi J was very irritating, along with a lot of poor performances from several singers.
Krysten is back to try a second time with a new song. She’s singing “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. She started off okay, but ended up murdering it. The judges didn’t care for her performance and she did not get through.
