Though Weidman is only 33, his obvious physical decrease has been surprisingly steep. Only a couple of decades back, he had been the middleweight champ and 13-0. Going into this Saturday, he has been knocked out in three consecutive fights – and each of those KO/TKOs were brutal.
It is not that he has looked bad – Weidman was competitive from Rockhold, Romero and Mousasi before captured with strikes. But”The All-American” seems to have attained his fighting peak – and it falls only below the elite level.
Weidman can get takedowns, but he can not do much damage. He can strike, but he is not great enough to endure for five rounds against guys the very best standup fighters. As he’s been rocked in three fights and we now have to question his chin.
