Ashton Kutcher has finally filed for divorce from Demi Moore, just over a year after the former couple split from one another. Perhaps they were giving it a year to see if they would come back around to their marriage?
Either way, Ashton has filed the official paperwork for the divorce on Friday. He filed the docs in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. Reportedly, Ashton used the name “Christopher Kutcher” and listed their separation date and property as “to be determined” on the documents.
The two first parted ways in November 2011. At the time, Demi issued a statement saying, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”
At the time, Ashton took to his official Twitter account to say, “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK.”
We’re wondering why he took so long to finally file the documents with the courts? Any guesses?
